Spinoff: how many family members can you truly count on?
I am fortunate in this dept and have many family members I can truly count on: 10 come to mind immediately.

Not counting DH? 2 and a half.
My dad and sister are always there for me. My mom *tries* to be, but often says and does the wrong thing.

I would have to say probably 4 on my side -- mom, stepdad, brother and sil (nrthshgrl) and 1 on the inlaw side (sil). So, I guess that's 5 
Mom often says and does the wrong thing, but her intentions are good. And if I was in a pinch, she would definitely be there.
ETA: forgot to add DH of course!

I can count on my parents and my DH. My sister tends to be a very selfish person, so I can count on her so long as it's convenient for her. I don't depend on anyone in DH's family. Not that his parents and sister wouldn't be there if I needed anything, but I just would go to my own family first. I would have to be on my deathbed to go to my BIL for anything.

My parents for sure-mom and dad are both wonderful !
i do not have any siblings... so its a no go there...
Of course, Dh
his parents are pretty great too-if I needed his mom/dad/even his brother I know they would be there for me.
My one cousin-for sure without a doubt-
soooo probably 6
(although I know if there was really something I needed, there would be others, our family is pretty close, even though separated by miles now)

My mom absolutely and my dad too, my sisters I can count on, but they've got so much going on in their own lives and trying to establish themselves, but I know I can count on them if it was urgent.
And since day one, even though he's technically not family yet, I've always been able to count on FH
