spinoff question to packing hospital bag
Do you pack maternity clothes or do you go back to wearing regular clothes? I'm going to buy some stuff to have but I'm just not sure what to buy.
Someone also told me to immediately put on a girdle or a belly band. Does anyone have any input on that?

I packed regular clothes like sweatpants and t-shirts, loose clothing. I didn't wear a girdle or band, so I have no input.

Re: spinoff question to packing hospital bag
I'd heard to plan on wearing things you wore when you were around 7 months pregnant. With all the fluids they often pump into you after birth, you're likely to still be very swollen/bloated. I just wore maternity / nursing PJs home (sweats and a shirt) actually.

I wore regular clothes just in a larger size. I agree with pp. You most likely are still going to have a small belly and be slightly bloated. I got a light sweat suit from Old Navy in a larger size than I would normally wear.

Cotton dresses and leggings, foldover yoga pants with a tee shirt, etc.
Make sure you have dark colored bottoms, the postpartum bleeding was worse than I ever expected.

I'm probably going home in what I came in wearing. A black maxi dress.

maternity or elastic band pants.
The day after we left the hospital we had to bring DS#1 back for a blood test (jaundice) he was 5 days old...the plebotomist asked if I was pregnant again!!!

A black maxi dress is exactly what I packed to wear home. I'll also be wearing a girdle/belly binding thing.

Re: spinoff question to packing hospital bag
I wore a regular sweatsuit. I did need to wear totes home b/c my feet were SO swollen I couldn't fit them into my sneakers or any other shoe. I wore the binder the hospital gave me (got a second one) for 4 months after giving birth. the SMARTEST thing I ever did.
