Any Paul Simon or Spinners song - reminds me of my parents

Margaritaville!!!
We actualy call my parents house Margaritaville in the summer because we all sit outside by the pool, bbq, and drink margaritas. Margaritaville is always open, whether it be 2 people or 10. And if it rains, we can still sit on the porch and drink!

Re: Spinoff: Songs with good memories
So many...I have a lot of songs that are sentimental for me. I have good relationships with most of my exes, so the songs give me a good feeling, and I also have a bunch of songs that I associate with my HS friends.
Ex-boyfriend songs: Open Arms - Journey Fade Into You - Mazzy Star Save Tonight - Eagle Eye Cherry Don't Want to Miss A Thing - Aerosmith
H.S. songs: Runaway - Bon Jovi November Rain - Guns N Roses Because The Night - 10,000 Maniacs The Rose - Bette Midler
Just a few for starters.

Re: Spinoff: Songs with good memories
Amber - Sexual (Was playing at all the clubs when I first my DH.)
Bellamy Brothers - Let Your Love Flow (My father used to play that record over and over on the weekends when I was really young.)
Alphaville - Forever Young (reminds me of my Junior & Senior yr in high school when we went for trips up to the Catskills.)
There are just sooooo many songs that bring back fond memories for me. I live for music and have so many associations with it.

So many..but off the top of my head
DH and I both love Time Passages by Al Stewart. We've had many rides in the car with that one blasting.
Also the entire Jazz Singer Soundtrack (Neil Diamond) is a old family favorite.

Re: Spinoff: Songs with good memories
Old songs have good memories for me. When I was a little girl, I loved plastic high heels. There was this song called "I'm Your Puppet" from the 60s, and my dad used to play it. I used to put a rose in my teeth, put on my little heels and drag my blankie and shake it across the basement to this song...OMG. So hilarious.
Also that old song "Cherish." And, "My Girl." I am very close with my daddy; these songs remind me of him taking me fishing when I was little.
Now, my wedding song. "I Could Not Ask For More" by Edwin McCain.

Re: Spinoff: Songs with good memories
Margaritaville - My father sang that in the car once and I thought he was cool because it was very out of character for him to sing at all.

Re: Spinoff: Songs with good memories
Crocodile Rock by Elton John - probably my all time favorite song from my childhood. This song used to make me laugh hysterically when I was a little girl.
Yellow Submarine also reminds me of my childhood - way back in the 70s when my parents were still married
Dancing Queen by Abba reminds me of my best friend.

Anything for Love - Reina or Your Love is My Love - Whitney Houston or Above the Clouds - Amber (reminds me of going to the Hamptons clubs with the girls)
Color me Bad - Sex You Up (reminds me of being fresh out of high school and singing with a bunch of guy and girl friends, the name of our group was Color me Good )
Ex-boyfriend Songs:
Open Arms - Journey The Flame - Cheap Trick Since I've been Loving You - Led Zepplin

Any Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Kenny Rogers or Barry Manilow song reminds me of my parents. They beat that music into my head sooo much that I actually love all of their music as well

Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears for Fears. I can remember this playing in the car when I was young and we'd be on our way to the beach - fun times.
Heaven is a Place on Earth - Belinda Carlisle. My mom wore out this tape!! Again lots of great memories.
There are Places I Remember - The Beatles - makes me think about my childhood
Save a Prayer & Come Undone by Duran Duran - DH is a huge Duran Duran fan and some of my favorite memories with him are with this song playing
Swear to God by Frankie Valli , Never Can Say Goodbye by Gloria Gaynor, Fooled Around and Fell in Love by Elvis Bishop all remind me of my parents.

Total shout out for Al Stewart. I absolutely LOVE him. Time Passages is such a beautiful song. He has an amazing voice!
Young Hearts Run Free by Candi Staton is one of those that I love because from the minute I met my friend Rosemary she said that she was going to dance to that at her wedding...even though its a song about not getting married. So at her wedding we kicked off our stilettos and all danced to this!!! It was a great time!
