SPINOFF: Summer Video Monitor Moms...

I don't have a video monitor but will be getting one in a few months when DD#2 comes along and the girls will be sleeping on a different floor than DH and I. I read a few reviews and saw a bunch of complaints about seeing other children on the monitors as well as sound problems. Here are my questions:

1. Did you have a problem with seeing other people's children on your monitor screen?

2. Moms of kids in 2 different rooms/areas of the same room: Is there a specific Summer monitor that I need to get in order to have two cameras hooked up? Is there a switch so I can see both kids on the same monitor or do I need two different monitors?

3. Do I need an attachment or extra cord to hook the monitor up to my TV?

4. Has everyone had issues with sound quality? If you did not have sound issues, which monitor model do you have? TIA!! Chat Icon

never saw another child on my monitor, but know some people who have.
Sound quality is fine, and I think mine came with the attachment to hook up to TV

I have the Summer Day/Night Handheld. I have never seen any other kids. I don't think mine came with a TV attachment but I'm sure its just a video cord you can get at Radio Shack if need be. I used to get a lot of static but it seems to have gotten better lately not sure why. I believe you can use the handheld with two cameras you will just have to switch between channel A and B

We did see another chlid on ours, it was a toddler, but I'm not sure who's house it was. We just switched it to channel B since they obviously had theirs on channel A. I never it again after that one time. We also don't keep ours on at night or all day long. Just when we are outside and he is sleeping inside.

Re: SPINOFF: Summer Video Monitor Moms...

The only issue I have had with it is a little static when it comes close to certain appliances. Other than that I love it!

I had the same exact experience with my Summer Day/Night handheld. I got the extra camera and I do switch between the kids rooms as needed. I keep it primarily on the baby's room and switch to the older one's room as needed.

Re: SPINOFF: Summer Video Monitor Moms...

i never saw another kid, but that's because there are no other kids near my house! it can't pick up a signal that isn't there.

mine is an older model that we got from a friend. it has 2 different cameras which i will use for the 2 different rooms.

Re: SPINOFF: Summer Video Monitor Moms...

1. Did you have a problem with seeing other people's children on your monitor screen?

- this has never happened to me!

2. Moms of kids in 2 different rooms/areas of the same room: Is there a specific Summer monitor that I need to get in order to have two cameras hooked up? Is there a switch so I can see both kids on the same monitor or do I need two different monitors?

- you just need two different cameras. set one to "A" and one to "B" and you can switch back and forth on the monitor.

3. Do I need an attachment or extra cord to hook the monitor up to my TV?

- i never did this so i don't know

4. Has everyone had issues with sound quality? If you did not have sound issues, which monitor model do you have?

- no sound issues, ever! this is the best monitor Chat Icon and it's last year's model.

1. Did you have a problem with seeing other people's children on your monitor screen?

Once a new baby arrived in the neighborhood, I was and am still able to see the other baby on the other channel.

2. Moms of kids in 2 different rooms/areas of the same room: Is there a specific Summer monitor that I need to get in order to have two cameras hooked up? Is there a switch so I can see both kids on the same monitor or do I need two different monitors?

In anticipation of baby #2 that is due next month, I bought a second unit all together so that I could watch and hear both kids simultaneously. We turned them both on and have no problems. The neighbor's baby that I used to see has disappeared off the channel since my signal is closer/stronger. If I turn off the second unit, I can pick up the neighbor's baby by switching channels on the first unit.

3. Do I need an attachment or extra cord to hook the monitor up to my TV?

Haven't tried this.

4. Has everyone had issues with sound quality? If you did not have sound issues, which monitor model do you have? TIA!!

We get static issues once in a while, but I have no complaints. We're using the Summer Infant Day/Night Handheld monitor.

No - never

You just need two different cameras. set one to "A" and one to "B" and you can switch back and forth on the monitor. However I think I would prefer to have two separate handheld monitors to be able to see both kids at the same time.

3. Do I need an attachment or extra cord to hook the monitor up to my TV?

I think it came with the monitor, but I have never used it!

4. Has everyone had issues with sound quality? If you did not have sound issues, which monitor model do you have?

I have major issues with sound quality. It "clicks" static all night long. For some reason it's not as bad during the day - and I don't understand why!!! I have last year's model of the Summer Handheld Day/Night.

Re: SPINOFF: Summer Video Monitor Moms...

Never saw other children on our monitor, however we have dealt with a ton of static in certain parts of our house. I find it very annoying.

Re: SPINOFF: Summer Video Monitor Moms...

I have seen another child on mine. My neighbor has the same one so if my monitor is by a window I pick up her camera. It is kind of freaky.
I also have alot of static on mine. I have to wiggle the plug to get it to work and it always has to be plugged in otherwise the battery lasts like 5 minutes. HTH

I have never seen anyone else's children but something strange has happened with my monitor. My father was doing electrical in my house and hit off the outlet where I have my monitor plugged in. So I lost the signal and when I looked on my monitor I saw someone's stairwell. It was soooo bizarre. Who has a monitor on their staircase???Chat Icon I guess I picked up a local signal.

Re: SPINOFF: Summer Video Monitor Moms...

There was a new neighbor up the block (about 3 acres away from us, but no houses in the way) who used to keep there's on ALL THE TIME (even before their baby was even born). If our camera was on we could see DD on one channel, and see & hear theirs on the other, but it didn't interfere with our picture or sound. My DH thinks it caused static, but we still have some static anyway (neighbors have moved)
