Spinoff to 2nd time moms (mom's with repeat c-sections)
How does this work in relation to picking up your children. Will I be able to pick up dd#1 after my c-section? If not, how long after will I be able to. DD is very attached to me and loves me to pick her up

Re: Spinoff to 2nd time moms (mom's with repeat c-sections)
Good question because this freaks me out. I remember them saying not to lift anything heavier than the baby - and Jack is a heck of a lot heavier than a newborn now - I can only imagine in 9 months.
My DH will be home for at least two weeks so I think I'll let him pick him up for that time and then I"ll have no choice!
I still remember being in a ton of pain after I would carry the carseat with Jack - even weeks later.

Re: Spinoff to 2nd time moms (mom's with repeat c-sections)
I've had three c sections. Each of my kiddos are about 2 1/2 years apart. It took me awhile before I could pick up my older ones (I want to say at least about 6 -8 weeks or so). What I did was I had them sit next to me and crawl on my lap (with a little pillow for extra cushion) if they needed cuddle time, etc. I just said mommy has a boo boo and we had to be careful. They were fine with it and adjusted pretty well. HTH.

i am soooooo beyond worried about this. i have 49 days to go and my ds is 27lbs. and SUPER attached to me. how do we lift them to change them, put them in a crib or the car? this is honestly the thing i stress about most (and getting ppd.)

I did it in the hospital and as soon as I got home. He is 30lbs. I couldn't not do it. I was careful about it and went slow. I also made sure I was sitting when I did it. It was easier that way.
And I have been carrying him to bed since the weekend so a little less then 1 week post op.

Re: Spinoff to 2nd time moms (mom's with repeat c-sections)
I am assuming that I won't be able to b.c when I had my section with DD they said not to carry more than the baby - if an emergency the baby in the carrier was the heaviest thing I was allowed to carry or lift. I don't want to risk tearing my incision b.c it will just mean not carrying her even longer. I'm not sure how it will work out - b.c DD is getting very attached and wants to be carried now - she is only 23lbs now though. I figured it will have to be lots of cuddle time for now. But I'm wondering how I will bet her in and out of the car if I can't lift her in and out of her car seat?

Re: Spinoff to 2nd time moms (mom's with repeat c-sections)
I was home with DS1 so he was also very attached to me. When he came to visit me in the hospital, DH and my parents (he was staying with them while I was in the hospital) explained that mommy has a boo boo and he has to be careful around me. He somehow got it and was OK with it. Once I got home, I continued to cuddle with him and change his diaper as much as possible. I Just didn't lift him up. I put him in his crib for the first time about 2 weeks after DS2 was born. You do what you have to do
