what does it mean to "worm your cat"??

and

can your cat get worms if its an INDOOR cat??

Yes, indoor cats can still get internal parasites.

"Worming" your cat is a bit of a misnomer - you're really "de-worming" them. It's administering medication to kill parasites -- preferably parasites that are still relatively small and have not yet caused any damage.

thanks! i am still a bit new to the cat ownership (we've only had miller since august 08) so there are always things that i am questioning!

Honesly...most indoor cats do not need to be de-wormed. Our cat is 5 years old, goes for yearly vet visits and has never had to be de-wormed since we got him. He also does not get preventive worm medication.
We have even asked about it because the dog obviously goes in and out and I worried about fleas, ticks, worms from exposure to the dog.
Apparently, unless the cat is eating the dog's poop or sniffing the dogs butt, there is no exposure to worms. As long as the dog is given preventive worm medication and flea/tick medication - there is no reason to treat the cat.

The cat should, however, go for yearly vet visits and vaccinations.
