Anal Fissures -- BEWARE -- TMI POST
OK, so I've been having some problems in the bathroom department and now, what I thought could be AF is actually my rectum bleeding It really hurts when I go #2. I don't have any external hemroids, but looked online and saw that it could be anal fissures. Did anyone experience these? I had a c/section so didn't think this was possible for me. Also, I've been getting some slight cramping in my lower abdomen.
I'm embarassed to call the doctor.
(but not too embarassed to post on a public forum )

I had them when I was younger. I wasn't going to the bathroom regularly and when I did it hurt for obvious reasons Try a stool softener and drinking apple juice, etc. See if that helps make things easier. Not sure how long you have had them, but give it a week and if it still doesnt feel better i would call the dr. I know it sucks, but you also want to make sure its not hemmroids.

Thank you very much! I am pretty sure it's not hemroids because there is nothing there and also I read that internal hemroids do not hurt with BMs.
I am going to try some stool softners and the other suggestions before I call the doc.
Thank you so much!!!!!

I unfortunately had one after delivery. I was in pain for weeks..it was worse than the vaginal delivery!
I went to the doc, it was definitely a fissure. He gave me this great cream to apply internally, on top of that I take stool softeners and upped my water consumption. Much better now, I believe its healed actually. FM me if you need any more help!

Re: Anal Fissures -- BEWARE -- TMI POST
I had one very badly for years, the tear was so deep I had it surgically fixed/removed last year. I was out on disability for two months b/c I couldnt recover from the pain, would pass out when trying to have a BM....
Also a fissure has a certian pain to it...Its like glass, and you usually have spasms after a BM for 15 minutes to 24 hours, because the fissure is a tear on the muscle....And it tore due to spasms.....
Thats how you can usually tell between a fissure and things like hemmoroids, b/c the pain is actually very different and a fissure pain does not go away after a BM, but lingers....
If you do a search on here for fissures, you will find some of mine and sweetness's posts about it and it has some helpful info in it. Let me know if you cant find the posts...
Or FM me if you want to discuss more....
My suggestion is to see a colon and rectal surgeon....They dont neccesarily have to do surgery at all, but they are the best at diagnosing, making sure thats the problem and treating it.
It can get worse fast, it needs to be taken care of.
Hang in there.......

ITA on seeing a colon and rectal surgeon. Internal Hemorrhoids can bleed also. They will tell you what it is and what is the best plan of action for you.
I went to a couple of surgeons (same office) in Commack. FM if you want their contact.

oh my goodness! I'm glad your better now, but man, what a pain (no pun intended)
That is exactly what it feels like. Like I'm shooting glass out of my bum (and I am NOT trying to be funny here because it's so painful ) The pain does sort of linger, but not as intense as during my BM and not so uncomfy that I can't sit.
Thank you for the info and I am going to call my doc on Monday.
