spinoff to cautious/afraid child...NO FEAR kids...
seeing the 2 other threads about cautious kids and kids who are afraid of things made me wonder....
em has ZERO fear...like, none. we were at the park yesterday and she was playing more on the 5 year old playground than the 2 year old one (she's not yet 2). she just went and went. she wanted to do the 8 year and up one but there was no way - we took her up into it a few times WITH us...but alone, it was NOT happening.
she just climbed up the stairs, ran across the drawbridge thingy, crawled through the tunnel and went down the twisty slide without so much as pausing... it's INSANE...
are other kids like this too? does it change as they age??

AJ
#1 (last week)
#2 (this week) Sorry about the funny face, hubby took the photo while she was in the car to send to me while I was out of town...
So yeah.. she's fearless.
We have a park or two with a smaller set for the toddlers.. she's NEVER cared for it.. she's climbing walls, walking over bridges that are so sharply angled for big kids that she's holding on for dear life at the start and end, trying to hang onto the monkey bars, does the big kids slids (long, twisty, bumpy, tall)

DS is the same way--pushed my hand away and wouldn't let me help him across the drawbridge (with a hand rail too high for him to reach), and almost jumped off of the like 20' high platform before the slide. He runs around to the slides, and then fakes me out and goes down a different slide so I can't meet him at the bottom.

Re: spinoff to cautious/afraid child...NO FEAR kids...
I can pretty much say, since birth, when it comes to physical ... DS is fearless
but last week he really noticed his shadow for the first time and was terrified, it took a day or two but he got over it and now trying to chase it down and give it a good beating
I haven't known many kids that learned to climb up and down a sofa before they learned to walk, the front side and back side He's also kind of athletic solid build (very luck genes there)
He approaches kids twice his size, 3, 4,5, 6 year olds, he runs after small dogs, big dogs, even big dogs that scare mommy. There was school kid sitting playing a video game on the toddler playground steps, DH just walked up to him and bonked him on the head. But if the kid looked at him the wrong way or made a mean face, he does get a little scared, because I think he doesn't know how to handle it.
Some psychological type things really do scare him, he's like a big thug with a mushy side
