Spinoff to cell phone post - sort of a PSA
If you're going to give your DC a cell phone, PLEASE teach them not to drive while talking. Yes, drive -- a bike. A few years ago, DH and I were driving home, in broad daylight. There was a kid on a bike riding beside us, and he was TALKING ON HIS CELL PHONE. DH was going very slowly, and all of a sudden, the kid turned into the street and we could have killed him if we hadn't been ready for it.

I know. But it also goes along with teaching them the responsibility that comes with having a phone when you DO allow it.

did you see Oprah the other day (and this doesnt just apply to teens) about texting and driving?

did you see Oprah the other day (and this doesnt just apply to teens) about texting and driving?
No I didn't see it but I heard about it. I've been told it was pretty awful.

It was awful, and so tragic, I cried through half of it.

ITA and I agree that the same applies to adults. Where I live, there are no laws on cell phones and there are a TON of fatal accidents.
