Re: spinoff to chemical pregnancies post.. If you had a miscarriage and needed a D&C........

My loss started around 5.5 weeks (gestational sac measured 5.5 weeks and never grew, and never saw a hb) but my body held onto the pregnancy until 8 weeks. I kept going back to the doctor for u/s to check if there was any development but there never was.

Anyway I saw 2 doctors during my miscarriage in 2 different practices and they both said to wait 1 cycle. They were certain that the body knows what to do and goes back to normal. I know not all dr. say this though.

What is yours saying? Sorry again for your loss Chat Icon

I had my D&C on April 11th I was 8w5d when we lost the baby. The Dr strongly stressed that we wait 2 cycles to let everything heal properly and to get ready for implantation.

Every Dr says something different. I am going to listen to her... waiting one more month to make sure everythign is good isn't that long... I would be mess if we tried after 1 and we got preggers but lost it... I would always blame myself for not giving my body enough time to heal and for not listening to the Drs orders.

SO sorry about your loss

I am so incredibly sorry.

I was 9 weeks. We were told by two doctors (my OB and then a MFS/Peri) that we should wait 3 cycles.

We waited. It was hard to wait that long but I needed time to mourn anyway. Part of me wishes we didn't wait because it seems like the chance of getting pregnant again is better if you don't wait but like the person I quoted said, I didn't want to blame myself if we lost another one. Also my doctor would have been really really peeved.

I am so sorry Chat Icon

Re: spinoff to chemical pregnancies post.. If you had a miscarriage and needed a D&C........

I miscarried at 7/8 weeks. Doctor told me to wait a "couple cycles", but the way he spoke about waiting made me think that it was for my mental health more than anything. We didn't really try anything not to, but we didn't actively try.

We are now at the end of the 3rd cycle since. I have PCOS and used an RE to help us get my DD here. I made an appointment for the end of June, that would be 4 natural full cycles.

My MC was at around 10 weeks.

The doctor told me to wait one cycle. I am not sure if he meant get my period, and then wait till after I got it again if that would constitute one full cycleChat Icon, but basically I ended up getting my period about 4 weeks after the D&C and tried about 2 weeks later and got my bfp right away.

I miscarried at 19 weeks, I had delivered and had a D&C due to a sticky placenta, we started trying two cycles later and my daughter was born two weeks short or a year later. Good luck!

Re: spinoff to chemical pregnancies post.. If you had a miscarriage and needed a D&C........

Thanks everyone .. My RE said just one cycle was necessary, but I was just curious what other people were doing. After my loss last year that was further along, I was told to wait two cycles.

In the meantime, when all is said and done, it will be about 2 months since my loss when I start IVF again.
