Spinoff to Christmas post
DS will be almost 9 mo. for Christmas. When your DC's were that age did you buy and wrap gifts for them? I am thinking I will buy a couple of cute toys but I dont know what. I can't imagine not having something under the tree for him. I'm sure he'll enjoy the paper and the box more though

Re: Spinoff to Christmas post
My son was about that age at his first christmas too. I was not working much and we were struggling a bit financially. I bought him something from Santa and something from us, but that was it. I asked g-parents for things like gift cards to gymboree or safety swim. He has lots of aunts and uncles and cousins so he definately was not deprived of wrapped gifts.

Re: Spinoff to Christmas post
DD was 6 1/2 months old - we bought her 4 things and she actually opened them up herself - we were shocked.
She didn't want to unwrap any of the gifts from anyone else though

Re: Spinoff to Christmas post
DS and DD were both around 7 months at Christmas. We still wrapped things up for them. The first year, we helped them with the unwrapping, but they were still able to have a good time by grabbing the loose ends and tugging. It makes cool sounds when you tear and crumple the paper...

Re: Spinoff to Christmas post
Hayley was only 3 months for her 1st christmas. I only bought a few little things and wrapped them. I sat her in my lap and "we" opened it together. Now this year she will be 2...I really can't wait!!!!

Re: Spinoff to Christmas post
My ds son was not even a month old for his first Christmas and I went crazy bought so much stuff rattles, disney movies (when he would get older), clothes, etc... and I wraped them all. Learned my lesson so when ds #2 was 8 mos for his first Christmas I think I had about 5-8 things wraped, had to help him though.

Re: Spinoff to Christmas post
My DD was 5 days old for her 1st Christmas. We were so wrapped up in her and preparing for her that we didn’t get any gifts for her or us. It was the perfect Christmas though, just the three of us lying around watching holiday movies and eating all day.
She’ll be one this year. I think we are going to be out of state for her b-day and Christmas but we’ll get her something small to open for each. I’m sure she’ll get plenty from our families and we’ll have to find a way to haul it back.

DD was 6m ths and we bought her like 5 things and wrapped them under the tree - she opened 1 or 2 with our help and had fun We also bought her a toybox for xmas but we didnt wrap that, just built it and put it near the tree with a ribbon on it.
