Spinoff to class gift
Do you usually give $$ towards the class gift AND also get the teacher a little something on your own?

Re: Spinoff to class gift
I did this with my DD's class this year. I'm not sure what to do with my DS' class.... they collect at the beginning of the year to cover various things including the teacher gifts for holidays and year end - but it hardly seemed like much so I might have to get something else. Eveyone is getting chocolate covered pretzels too whether they like it or not LOL

Re: Spinoff to class gift
Always.
When I weigh the role these people have in my child's life combined with the feedback I get on my child, a $5 contribution doesn't cut it.
For the teachers I've had & the positive experiences in my life, their influence was immeasurable. I know my children are getting the same from their teachers. I plan to do the same as they go through junior high, high school. I know my sister feels that some of my nephew's teachers go above & beyond and follows suit with thanking them with small gifts or a note - not just for the holiday season, but throughout the year.

Re: Spinoff to class gift
I do both. This year DD's preschool collected $13 to buy a gift for the teacher and 2 assistants. It didn't seem like very much to me. I am not saying I go over the top with a gift on my own but I did buy the teacher a $20 GC and the 2 assistants got $10 GC's.
