Spinoff to cost of wedding ring
Reading the other post, most said they knew because they had the appraisal. Just curious does the appraisal generally match what you paid.
I ask because my appraisal is actually a good bit higher than what DH paid for it.

my ring appraised much higher than what DH had to pay for it, because all he had to pay for was making it... all the diamonds came from my mothers tennis bracelet and her engagement ring.
my DH made out cheap, i think all in all he shelled out about $1000 to have the rings made.

I think they always appraise for more unless you really got ripped off big time.
