spinoff to eye makeup: mascara...what am I doing wrong?

EVERY time I apply mascara to my upper lashes, I end up hitting the skin above my eye and leaving a black mark. Then I have to wipe it off, but I usually put concealer on there for an even skin tone. So then that gets ruined and I have to start again. Any tips? Is my brush too big (I use Dior) or am I doing the brush strokes wrong?

Do you use Dior Show? I HATE that mascara...the brush is like the size of a curling iron. The size could be it...or you could try wiggling the brush as you move from the base of your lashes to the end...pay more attention to the base and pull the brush away as you get close to the tips.

I find that tilting my head back helps a lot. I also sort of lift the eye lid carefully. and to the PP, yes, dior show brush was horrible!!!
