i will never step foot in Peter Luger's again - the food was good BUT FH ordered a steak "well done" and the cook actually came out of the kitchen and gave FH a whole speech about how he didn't know how to eat steak and he shouldnt go to a place like PL if he was going to order it well done and it was an insult to him and he can't "guarantee" the quality of a well done steak Chat Icon

the only reason we didnt walk out was bc we were there for my brother . . .
we were mortified!

Anyway, you guys are all naming my fave restaurants ( cheesecake factory and any fast food restaurant. . .YUM!) lol

I am SO glad you posted this. I don't get that place either.

For the prices they charge if I wanted them to burn my steak, cover it in ketchup and then throw it on the ground and stomp on it-they should do it- no questions asked. I am the customer- make my steak the way I want it- or I'll take my buisness elsewhere.

I feel like they intimidate and embarrass you in that place- then rip you off in the process.

I will NEVER set foot in there again!
I'd eat a steak at the Outback before I went back there...at least they cook it the way you want it- no questions asked.

And sorry- but eating meat so rare it bleeds isn't exactly healthy either- I've gotten food poisoning from doing that too. Maybe if they had a few lawsuits on their hands from people who get sick from their undercooked meat- they would change their tune!

I thought of another one. My MIL loves Jimmy Hays in Island Park. The food was ok but they were so rude to us once..and my MIL always wants to go back there.

I don't like places with a salad bar like Ruby Tuesdays. Something about having food sitting around for the public to take grosses me out.

Re: Spinoff to Favorite restaurant YOUR LEAST FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT??

Mama Lombardi's in Holbrook. I find it to be pretentious and overpriced. I've lived in Holbrook for 29 years and I remember when they opened their first pizzeria/restaurant. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was genuine and cordial. Now, while the quality of the food hasn't changed, the atmosphere, certainly, has. I went there once and noticed that as people came in they took into account what you were wearing as to where you would be seated. If you were dressed to their standards, you were seated in the main dining room. If not, or, God forbid, you had children with you, you were seated off to the side in a smaller dining area that was separated from the other diners. I paid $20.00 for a plate of bow-tie pasta in sauce. IMO, definitely, overpriced.

Ever since the Lombardi kids took over the business, it hasn't been the same. I, honestly, don't see what all the fuss is about concerning this place.

Really?? Now I agree with you on the service. They push you out to get more customers in (that is why there are no reservations) and they are very bad to their employees.
I can NOT stop going though as there food is soooo good and we go to Lombardi Market all the time. You get so much for your money though so I don't think it is that overpriced. Some things are like the Shrimp Scampi. I have never had a problem with one thing that I have ever eaten though. Everything is so good. We had heros the other day and they were soooooo good!

Mamas food is good too but I worked with one of the family and I did not care for her and she had such an attitude. It really turned me off on going there. I also once called for prices for catering and they were very rude to me over the phone.
The breadsticks though-yummmmmyyy!
