Spinoff to Fertility Monitor Question

What is the difference between OPKs and fertility monitors?

For ladies that have used both, why is one better than the other?

TIA....

edited for clarification....

I don't use either but I THINK that Opk's are just the little strips you pee on and the monitor is $$ and records your data in it.

Re: Spinoff to Fertility Monitor Question

The fertility monitors let you know when your fertility is high and then peak so you know that you should definitely start BD when your monitor is reading high.
You start testing around day 6 and I think this month I got a high on day 9 and then peak on 12 and 13 so I know I ovulated on 13. For us timing is very important because of male factor issues and I could temp but that only tells us AFTER I ovulated which doesn't help too much.
For a while I was ovulating on day 16 or 17 and this month it's up to 13 if I was just using OPK's I might have missed my "high" fertility days but with the monitor I know when I am getting very close to O. I hope all that makes sense. In my case it was worth the money but yes it was a little over $100 and the pack of 30 or 40 test sticks are around $40.
