spinoff to FT Working Moms... Those who work from home part or all of the time...
Do you still use your child care the day(s) you work from home?
I ask because I've been giving myself 1 full month back at work before I make any major decisions but the month is up on Friday and the adjustment is still horrendous for me.
I'm going to request a consolidated work week (4 days, 7-5) but if they absolutely will not budge on that, my last resort is 1 day a week from home. But I'm thinking I will still have to put DS in daycare that day because I do need my full 40 hours a week to complete my job. Just wondering how you all handle it.

I work from home one day a week and both kids still go to daycare. There is no way I could be productive with a 3yr old and 16 month old here during business hours. It's really my day to just have some piece and quiet, I usually get to start dinner earlier and then have more time in the evening with the boys.

I work from home two days a week and definitely have to have childcare while I work. I could never watch DD and work at the same time - she demands too much attention.

If I have clients are home I MUST have someone to watch DS. I schedule those in the evening so DH can take care of DS.

I work from home 3 days a week, but DD goes to daycare 5 days. There is no way I could get any work done if DD was here when I am supposed to be working.

That's what I figured, just didn't know if there was something I wasn't thinking of. So basically working from home would really not do much for me but cut out my commute, which isn't that terrible to begin with. Fingers crossed they approve the consolidated work week!
TY!

I just started PT where I can work from home at times. I get a mothers helper those days. Its a 13 year old relative just to keep DS busy for a few hours. I really dont think I could get anything done otherwise. It was easier a few months ago, but now DS wants me, gets into things and demands much mroe attention.
I will say though, I gave myself 3 months after going back to work FT. The first month was hard, second was easier and by the third I was actually having a hard time deciding whether I should only work PT....
ETA: I do know 1 person who works 2 days from home and I dont believe she has a sitter and it works out great -- I know because I used to work with her. Couldnotask4more....she doesnt come on much anymore, but if you wnat to know how she does it you can FM her and let me know and I will tell her to check! GL!

Same here. BUT in the days I do not have a closing and I have paperwork to get done I drop her off late (around 10 or 10:30AM) and pick her up around 4PM instead or 5:30 or 6PM. Then there are some days when my paperwork is done and I don't have a closing scheduled and I keep her home. Those are the mommy and me days.

I work from home two days a week and I still have my daughter here with me. She is 2 years old and I have had her at home with me since she was born. She is very good at occupying herself. She likes to sit at the table by me and color, playdough, etc. or play in the living room where I can see her. I'm due with baby number two in Sept and plant to have both home with me at the start. Well have to see how it goes. I can always do work after they go to bed too, but as long as I'm here to answer phone calls and emails, I'm pretty good.

I work from home one day a week and always put Alex in daycare, otherwise there's no way I could get my work done. But the benefit to that is I can spend much more time with her in the AM, and get to pick her up early from school, and can visit during lunch

If I worked from home my kids would go to daycare. There is no way i would be able to do both and be productive.
