spinoff to Ice Cream post
Although I am sure regular ice cream is fine, I have heard that ColdStone Creamery ice cream is not good for preggos
Since it is home-made, it is not pasturized, therefore may not be too safe
I know, some of you want to shoot bullets at this thread right now
Again, jury might still be out on this one too, but it's a logical explanation

Re: spinoff to Ice Cream post
Its made from milk and cream, both which are pasteurized, its not like they are milking cows in the back.

Katie, I asked my ob and he didn't seem concerned with it. He said it probably is pasturized. FDA wouldn't allow them to sell unpastrized ice cream to public without a warning in their stores, which isn't the case.

Re: spinoff to Ice Cream post
I ate cold stone while preggo with my DS and he is just fine. I have had it with this pregnancy too. I would think that they use pasturized ingredients while making it.

Re: spinoff to Ice Cream post
There was an outbreak in 2005 of Salmonella in people who had eaten Cold Stone "Cake Batter" (one of my favorites). It was because the actual cake batter used to make the flavor had raw egg in the mix and should not have been consumed until cooked. The issue was fixed.
Cold Stone is perfectly safe.....

Re: spinoff to Ice Cream post
I am glad I am not that fond of ice cream. How can they not pastuerize it? We don't even bring ds in there, they are not friendly to those with food allergies.

Re: spinoff to Ice Cream post
Are you sure it's not pasteurized? I find this hard to believe.
But if you do recall, a few years back their ice cream was found to have salmonella (actually my fav flavor, I think, it was cake batter). I stopped going there years ago due to this, and also...b/c I find their ice cream very very gluey. I hate it.

I agree, it has to be pastuerized other than a slip up here or there (like the cake batter ice cream situation we mentioned above).
