Spinoff to Infant Car Seats

When we got ours installed last week the man also said that we cannot put the passenger seat back so that it is resting against the car seat. There needs to be some space between the two.

Now, the problem is that leaves hardly any room at all for a passenger to sit in the front. I was wondering how many of you follow this? We just bought a Grand Cherokee too for more room, I couldn't believe how small it got once the car seat was installed.

He wanted to put ours in the middle but the problem with that is that I am really short (only 5'1" and I didn't think I would be able to reach it.) Do you have a problem getting to it?

Our infant seat used to be in the middle of our Murano, I am only 5'3'', I used to have to step into the car to get the seat out. It wasn't that bad.

Why can't you leave your passenger seat almost all the way up - no one is going to be sitting there every day right?

You know how tall we are (our seats are almost all the way back) and we haven't had a problem. I think you should be ok. Chat Icon

I can leave the seat up but when James and I are driving together I like to drive (bc he is the worst and I'm a control freak) and there is no way he will be able to sit in the pass. side. Who knows - we'll figure it out - there are bigger things to worry about right?! Chat Icon

Before we had the Armada that we got recently we had the FX35 which is the same as the Murano and we had it behind the passenger and I was always so far up and was with the back of my seat touching the handle to the carrier. If we had put it in the middle both the driver and passenger seats would have been all the way up. When we went shopping for the new truck I brought the infant carrier with the base, Chris thought I was crazy but you know what now I know how much room I have in the truck and it is plenty. The convertible did fit alot better than the infant carrier.

I have a Ford Fusion and the infant and convertable seat fit with much room. I keep it in the middle. I feel better that way, because if we ever get hit on the side, he is not right up against the door.

Re: Spinoff to Infant Car Seats

I had the Infiniti FX45 all though I loved that suv it sucked with having the car seat and then it had NO space for passengers!!! and the trunk is so small too and odd shaped you can barely fit the stroller and other baby stuff.

edited to say I now have the Nissan Quest and I LOVE IT, plenty of space!

My sister had the murano with 2 kids and she complained of the same thing. when she opened her trunk her stroller would always come flying out!!!! and after having 2 car seats in the back absolutely NO room for anyone or anything else!!!!

she now has the Honda Odyssey and LOVES it!
