SPINOFF TO MAJOR SPIT UP ISSUES
The story of my life!!!
My DD had MAJOR spit up issues. She is 10 weeks. She is now on Zantac 2x a day and I see NO DIFFERENCE. She is taking 4-41/2 oz bottles and gets rice cereal mixed in for the past month. My DR said you can go up to 3tsp/ounce of rice cereal. I do 3 tbs in the 4 and 1/2 bottle so thats A LOT of cereal and it still barely thickens it. My DD is on Neocate ( a VERY expensive formula) and the most broken down of formulas out there and still SPITS UP ALL THE TIME. I haven't gone to a specialist because it will kill me so see my DD get a tube stuck down her throat for 24 hrs to diagnose the refulx. We just trust our Ped and since she gave us the MED PRESCRIPTION why go to specialist to be told what we already know.
I spend ALL DAY chasing her around with a burp cloth! I guess it could be worse! My poor baby!

Re: SPINOFF TO MAJOR SPIT UP ISSUES
DS spit up all day. As long as she is not uncomfortable and is gaining weight there probably isnt anything they can do. When she gets older and her stomach muscles get stronger it will stop. I know how annoying it is. I never wanted to take DS anywhere because I knew he would spit up all over. It finally stopped completely when he was a year old.

Re: SPINOFF TO MAJOR SPIT UP ISSUES
I had the same issue and although it has lessened still do. I just learned the signs eventually 9the weird gurgling and trying to swallow and u knowwwwwww its coming back up and would throw them over the sink, toilet, whatever. I refused the allergy test-reflux test tyou name it. They are on Neocate until 2. They seem like they will outgrow it. It lessens but to be honest it never really lessened until about 8 months.. I didn't so zantac or the other one. Why? they are great on it then all of a sudden troll baby, my friend across the street who is a ped says because their body gets used to it or if there is weight gain they you have to up the dose. One of them also has alcohol in it. I know it does wonders for some-just not for us so it was not worth continuing it. They outgrow it. now...a baby that small..sometimes they need to look because there is something internal. If the baby is thriving regardless of spitting up-gains weight and gains length and head gain-then you can maybe leave it a tad. I didn't do the test because although the spitting up continued the screaming and all that stopped with the Neocate and after 2 other previous children my gut told me it was o.k. go with your gut.. fm me if u have any questions!

Re: SPINOFF TO MAJOR SPIT UP ISSUES
Zantac won't stop the spit up, it will just make it pain free for baby.
#2 was a major spit upper and on prevacid, i'd go through at least 10 bibs a day and 4 heavy duty cloth diapers. IT would just pour from her face.
One day around 7 months it just started stopping when she began to sit up and move around more.
If baby is gaining weight, peeing diapers and pooping baby is fine, just be ready to do lots of laundry!
ETA: my #2 was on neocate too. She is solid baby, super strong too, it's the straight amino acids in the neocate :)
My PED was against giving cereal in bottles no matter what the cause, the risk of allergies outweighed the benefit he said and it's not proven it even works, especially a baby with a protein allergy. But that's just my PED.
GO with your MOMMY GUT! That's what i did :)

Re: SPINOFF TO MAJOR SPIT UP ISSUES
Nothing helps the spitting up. All the medication will do is help the reduce the acid so they aren't in pain when they spit up.
I went through this with my DD and she spit up for 7 months non stop. You just get used to it.
