Having major sleeping issues with my terrible two.
Well lately, she does not want to go to sleep.
she cries, and cries and it goes like this for almost two hours.
it's really hard because she sleeps with us and I have tried putting her to bed early but she won't do it.
also if she naps during the day, it will be a mess for her to sleep at night.
I have no clue what to do.
anyone experienced this or has any suggestions?

Re: Having major sleeping issues with my terrible two.
I think the first problem is she is still sleeping with you.
PArt of it is her age....they ar curious and don't want to miss anything.
Maybe its developmental or could she be getting her 2 yr molars?
Is she sick?

I know, I know. we want to buy her a toddler bed because in her room is half her room, half living room so we really can't have her there. trust me I have tried putting her in the crib but she will wake up screaming bloody murder in the middle of the night.
Well she is starting her speech therapy and occupational therapy soon.
She is not sick.

What's her normal bedtime?
Does she cry even if you are in bed with her?

okay I think I'm a bad mom because she doesn't really have a bedtime, is anywhere between 11 and 12.
yeah, even when I'm by her side.

You are NOT a bad mom
BUT...that is a little late for a child her age... I'm sure she sleeps in for you though.
It does sound to me as though she is very overtired if she is crying alot at bedtime, skipping naps, and going to be late.
Why don't you try moving up her bedtime, but in gradual increments of 20 minutes each night. I can totally see how she would fight you tooth and nail if she normally goes to be at 11pm and you suddenly try to put her to bed at 8pm.
Also try for a midday nap. Even if she doesn't sleep, tell her she must have "quiet time" laying down, resting, with maybe some soft music playing. She'll probably fight the nap, but if you enforce quiet time...she may eventually just start napping which will hopefully lead to a earlier (and easier) bedtime.
Good luck!

Thanks Sandra, I was thinking of starting around 10. when she sleeps, she does sleeps through the night until we wake up which is around 10:30.
I will definitely try that.

I hear your pain! I have the same thing with Jordana. She sleeps in our room. We just deal with it (sometimes) and sometimes bring her into our bed when she starts screaming at 4:30. Sometimes we escape and sleep in the living room.
Sorry- no advice, just

No you're not alone. but we both need to work on getting our girls to sleep in their cribs.
Every night DH and I swear its the last night, and of course we give in when she starts wailing at 4:30 am.
My neighbor must hate me.

Re: Having major sleeping issues with my terrible two.
My oldest gave me a problem sleeping in his crib when he was that age too. We decided to convert his crib at the time to a toddler bed. It helped a little, you know telling him that he was a big boy now. But, that lasted a day. He went back to giving us a hard time again. So, I just let him CIO a few nights. It was hard too because we were sharing the room with him. But, I just had to deal with it reminding myself that it won't last forever. It was tough for about a week, but then he knew that when I said it was bedtime, I meant it. I would also suggest putting her to bed early, you know maybe around 8, , try gradual increments....the more rest they get, the better kiddies they will be. It's also good that she naps during the day, even if it is only for an hour. When she goes to school, they have them nap during the day in pre-k and kindergarten. If she does it at home then she will be prepared when she goes to school. Having them on a schedule is the key, it is very important. As soon as we got our oldest on a schedule he behaved so much better.
Good luck

You are not alone... Nate still sleeps with us. We get him down for bed around 8pm and put him in his crib. He usually wakes up around 1am relazing he's there and will scream bloody murder. If we put him in our bed from the beginning he'll sleep through the night. I'm hoping when we get him a twin size racecar bed in a couple of months, he'll get excited about it and sleep there.
I'm determined not to let Jayden fall into that pattern bc I can't have 2 kids in my bed.
