Spinoff to my cereal post
How long did it take DC to get the hang of eating it. This may sound like a stupid question but did you put it in his mouth or to his lips to suck it in?
I read in a magazine that it should be very watery and you shouldn't put the spoon in their mouth...just to the lips and they should suck it in.
I try to put it in his mouth...like on the tip of his tongue.

Re: Spinoff to my cereal post
It took DD a couple of days to get the hang of eating. I made it very soupy in the beginning like the paclkage said and she hated it. she would just let it spill right out of her mouth. after 2-3 days I made it a little thicker and she liked it much better. I put it in her mouth on her tongue.

Almost a mth. My son was a slow starter. It was a frustrating experience. And you are right - the ceareal needed to be almost watery.

Re: Spinoff to my cereal post
Thanks guys. I'll keep trying. He's not even 4 months yet so I don't push it but at the same time I want him to start within the next month.

Re: Spinoff to my cereal post
At Amelia's 4 month check up they told me to give her fruit. When I took Ayla last year at her 4 month check up they told me to start cereal at 4 months.
Since I am a Mom of 3, I do pretty much do what I've been doing in the past. I did start her on some fruits and she loves them.

Re: Spinoff to my cereal post
I started making Kristina's cereal very loose, and she took to it w/i a few days..... Then she started getting Diva ish with it, and didn't want it soupy anymore, so I started thickening it. Now she sits @ her highchair opening her mouth up like a little bird for each spoonful!

Re: Spinoff to my cereal post
We started at 5 mos and he didnt like it even after a few weeks of trying. We took a week off from it and then tried again at 6 mos and he liked it better but likes it much better with fruit now.

Re: Spinoff to my cereal post
NO problem here. DS couldn't wait to get some real food in his mouth. We started at 4 months. Now I can't get it in there quick enough without him yelling at me.
