Spinoff to my now found kitty – Thoughts on reward?
I had flyers printed and put over 200 in mailboxes in my neighborhood (I figured if the postmaster wanted to fine me for it, I really didn’t care ) and my boyfriend put them on every telephone pole and my pet sitter put them in stores. My neighbor called me to say his wife was driving (it turned out to be about a mile away, I clocked it like a psycho) and she saw him run across the road and I should drive over there & see if he was still there. So I did, and I was walking down the road calling to him and he heard me and came running to me meowing his head off The nighbor had called from a restricted number but he mentioned “I live at ## Street” so after I got the cat I actually drove straight to his house and thanked him (his wife was still out).
So my question: What kind of reward do you think is good?? I was thinking a $150 gift certificate to a nice restaurant. Is that too cheap??

I think that's an awesome and generous 'thank you for reuniting me with my kitty!' gift. They'll probably love it!

Very generous - especially considering she only spotted the cat

That is super generous! When my dog crossed a busy street and followed my neighbor home, all I gave him was some lousy Christmas cookies and a bottle of wine!

Thanks everyone! I just didn’t want to be cheap, he means so much to me.

That's what I was thinking, I was thinking if they HAD him I would definitely give more, and make it a cash reward. This was more like "information that lead to the reunion"
On a very silly 'crazy cat lady' side note, it makes me giggle when people say 'i spotted your cat' because he has spots I know that's totally stupid

Well, I advertised "REWARD" so I had to do something!!
And really, that was super nice of you to do! You gave a guy cookies and booze, I am sure he loved it! I think people just appreciate acknowledgement.

I think that's fine. If they hadn't called even though they spotted Dat he'd probably still be lost.

I think that's a very nice reward for them! If I was them, I wouldnt expect anything so 150 to a restaurant would be plenty!

Re: Spinoff to my now found kitty – Thoughts on reward?
Honestly $150 is SUPER generous, I found a Golden once, had it home with me for several hours before we located owners, and I did not expect a thing..they gave us a $50 restauraunt gift certificate, and we were thrilled. Thought it was so nice, and unecessary..I would hope someone would help me with my dog the same way if ever needed.

Very generous. I once found a dog and had her with me for hours before we connected with the owners...I got nothing, not even really a thank you!

Spinoff to my now found kitty – Thoughts on reward?
Now I feel bad, my dog escaped and a nice lady took him in and called us. DH said thank you but I should have got her something. Too late now it was a couple of months ago.

Don't feel bad! I advertised a reward on my posters & flyers! I KNOW they didn’t do it for the reward but i feel since they directly helped I wanted to do something for them, it just seemed like the right thing to do since I advertised it.
But, i will say, it's never too late if you did want to do something for her, I think a nice card expressing your gratitude and that you will never forget her kindness (because you clearly didn't!) would be really nice!

You just reminded me, i had a similar ungrateful owner experience! I found a dog like 2 years ago. She was sooo muddy I gave her a bath & called the owner's number on the collar literally like 10 times. I had to go to work (it was a Saturday and no one else was at my office) & didn’t want to leave the dog at my house so I brought it to my work which is like 15 minutes away. She finally called & seemed ANNOYED that she had to drive to my office to get her dog that I had bathed & gotten my rug all muddy trying to be a nice person. She didn’t thank me when she picked up the dog & didn’t take the bag of Iams food I stopped & bought, she could have at least humored me.
At least we know we did the right thing helping the dog!

I love it... he has spots
I too feel the rewards is very generous for her "spotting" him. She will be tickled that you even thought to give her a reward.

Wow! What an ungrateful ***** she was, she didn't even thank you after all that?! Some people are just miserable!
I think $150 restaurant certificate is very generous, and I'm sure they'll be very happy! So glad you've been reunited with your kitty

Wow, that's very generous! Just the simple fact you're thoughtful enough to do something for them at all. Most people wouldn't. I'm sure they're going to appreciate it.
