Spinoff to my own Pregnancy Post: Moms or soon to be moms of "irish" twins or those really close in age
With Jiavana I had no problems at all. I really had the perfect pregnancy. I never threw up and felt fine most of the time.
Now, that I am 15 wks along with this one, everything is just going down hill. First the ultrascreen results and then the complete previa.
Did this happen to anyone else? My MIL tries telling me its because I had the two back to back. But no one said having babies close in age was a bad thing.

I don't know about the previa issue but with the ultrascreen results, I would have to guess that it's utterly ridiculous to chalk that up to having babies too close together. Your eggs have been around since your infancy. DH's sperm is produced daily.
I know many friends who come from large families with back to back children. None of them have any siblings with issues.

Re: Spinoff to my own Pregnancy Post: Moms or soon to be moms of "irish" twins or those really close in age
Mine aren't as close as yours, but my 2 pregnancies were very different. With Sarah I was barely sick, etc. With Andy I had horrible morning sickness and he was laying on a nerve for the last 5 months so my leg constantly felt like it was on fire. I know it's nothing like what you are going through, but my doctor said it wouldn't have mattered if there were 3 years in between, every pregnancy is different.

sorry Jenn...
This PG is going just as perfectly as I did with DD.
And I do NOT think it has anything to do with having them back to back....
Ask your Dr, MIL are no experts

I don't think having them so close in age causes anything to happen. The doctors do say it is easier on you if you give your body a chance to recuperate before getting pregnant again. I've never heard of it affecting the baby though.

I agree. Many drs recommend waiting at least a yr for the health of the mom especially if you had a previous complicated pregnancy which you didn't. I don't think any of the complications you are having have anything to do with the fact your pregnancies are so close.
As a matter of fact I was just looking up the risk factors to previas in my nursing books and you I think you have none of them, prior uterine surgery including c/sect, pregnancy w/mulitlpes, and/or multiple pregnacies and while this is your 2nd pg there is usually a higher risk when you've had several children such as 5 or 6. And even if you have all these factors it is still a fairly rare condition (1/200 pregnant women develop this) Try not to blame yourself or let anyone else put the blame on you, it's not your fault

Re: Spinoff to my own Pregnancy Post: Moms or soon to be moms of "irish" twins or those really close in age
wow. those old books come in handy huh!!! I didn't have any of those things you listed and I have always been VERY healthy.
i honestly didn't think the test results and the previa had anything to do with them back to back. Because after i got the results first and i found out about the screening I went crazy on the internet and NOTHING came up saying back to back pregnancies.
When we first told her about the results her response was "Its because u had them back to back"
When we told her about the previa, same response.
I "nicely" said well the DR didn't say that's why. And I bit my tounge!
All of my IL's drive me up a wall.
But thanks for the reassurance.

My sister's kids are 11 months apart and she has no issues with having them so close together.

Next time she says that, ask her why she feels that way or what makes her think that. Tell her you have never heard that before and you were wondering where she came up with that. Most likely, she will have nothing to back up her cruel statements

Or just say "Well if I could stop your son from jumping my bones...this would have never happened..."

Im sorry- but I think her saying that to you is really mean and hurtful! I dont think it has any effect on your child at all...
And by the way- I had placenta previa with RJ my 1st and only for now... sometimes it just what your body does....
(Also- my placenta fixed itself later in the preg. a lot of times it does- so try not to worry!)

Re: Spinoff to my own Pregnancy Post: Moms or soon to be moms of "irish" twins or those really close in age
See now my dr told me that my 2nd pregnancy was going EASY because I had them so close together-that my body was already in "pg mode" so thats why I wasnt as sick as I was with my 1st-my hormones were already elevated.
Leave it to a M-I-L to make it seem that the complications you've been experiencing are somehow YOUR fault! Feel good&don't listen to her!!!

Re: Spinoff to my own Pregnancy Post: Moms or soon to be moms of "irish" twins or those really close in age
My two are 14 months apart and my second pregnancy actually went a lot more smoothly than my first (surprisingly enough.). I did have cholestasis both times, but luckily it didn't start until the third trimester and it's common to have it again if you've had it before.
