Spinoff to packing hospital pack...which one would you choose?
What type of bag are you using for hospital. These are my choices:
-A Vera Bradley Duffle -A small suitcase from a luggage set
Thoughts?
ETA: these arent my actual pieces. Just wanted to add a pic so you had an idea of my choices Image Attachment(s):

I say do the case.....it will be easier to roll it and to not have to carry, but I would only use it if it were of the carry on size.

Honestly, it really doesn't matter, so I say whatever fits your stuff best and whatever is easiest for your DH to transport. You're going to unpack it and/or put it away in a closet or in a corner out of the dr and nurses way when you get there so you'll never see it.

You are probably gonna bring a lot more than you will use. I think the duffle is definitely sufficient.

I'm actually using a small bag for the stuff I would need for L&D and then a larger suitcase for hospital stay.

just a small carry on bag... i have no desire to have anything on the hospital floors so there is no need for wheels

This is what I did and it worked out great. I left my suitcase in the car and DH brought it to me when I was transferred into a PP room.

NSUH told us to do this when we went for our tour the other day. They said with many people being in the room during labor it's safer that there is nothing on the floor so no one trips.

This is my plan also. It's just so much easier to roll the luggage rather than carry a heavy bag. Even if DH is carrying it in, I need him to carry out in the infant seat, so I'd like to help by rolling out the luggage. I don't care if it's on the hospital floor. It can't be so much worse than other places I've dragged that thing. I'll just spray it down with lysol when I get home.

Re: Spinoff to packing hospital pack...which one would you choose?
I just used a duffel-but it depends on what you are packing.
I had clothes for post partum, make up bag, hair dryer, coming home outfit for DD. A duffel worked.

Most hospitals will have you leave in a wheelchair.
For DD, I carried DD in the wheelchair, DH carried my duffel. Someone pushed me.
I waited in the lobby of the hospital while DH went to get the car. He brought the car seat in, we put DD in and then DH snapped her into the base. Someone from the hospital went out and checked the seat/DD and then helped me into the car and off we went.
I would think you'll be in a wheelchair and either carry the baby or put a bag on your lap as you are pushed.

Using one of our carry on suitcases. I'll probably have my overnight hand bag with my important things and what I need for after L&D. DH will bring in the carry on.

That's true. I didn't think of that. But still...When we get home I'll have to walk. I could have DH make 2 trips, but if I can help, it might just be easier.

I am using my Puma gym bag. I washed it the other day and packed my clothes and some baby clothes in it.
it's not glam or fancy, but it serves the purpose.

That's a good question. So far I know I'm packing my tooth brush/tooth paste. Maybe an ipod. My camera. A deck of cards or cross word puzzle book. slippers. Contact lens drops...Just stuff to keep me comefortable and and occupied.
