Spinoff to painting kitchen cabinets/ Are maple colored cabinets "dated"?

Are maple colored cabinets considered "dated"?

Would you prefer painted kitchen cabinets versus natural maple kitchen cabinets? Or would you prefer the real wood to show versus paint?

Mine have an orangy tone in some lights, sunlight, etc and I hate when they look orangy. In other lights they look less orange and pretty decent. Sometimes I just don't know if I should paint them.

Personally, I'm not a fan of painted white cabinets (really white cabinets in general). I'm a big on the natural cabinet look.

I don't think Maple color cabinets are dated per se. It's more about their overall style and the hardware on them.

IMO, if the style is dated and you paint over them, they'll just look like dated painted cabinets.

I honestly wouldn't paint them.

Natural wood for me takes precedence over painted......

maybe you could sand and reglaze?

We have natural maple and I love them.

I'm definitely not into painted white cabinets.

maple is not outdated. You could also refinish them instead of painting.

I think maple cabinets are nice, especially with a glaze over them

I hope they are not dated - that is what we are putting in our kitchen! I agree with some of the above posters - sometimes it's the style or the hardware that makes it look dated and not the color. I am also not the biggest fan of white cabinets.

This is the exact style i have but your color is SO MUCH NICER! I have the old style the more yellowish tone. They were here when we moved in.

I would leave your cabinets the way they are--the wood looks nice, and I don't think it's dated, though I guess trends in kitchen design change every few years.

I'm not wild about painted cabinets myself and would much prefer the wood.

Re: Spinoff to painting kitchen cabinets/ Are maple colored cabinets "dated"?

Thanks ladies. I just saw this, forgot I posted it.

I am going to leave them alone. The kitchen doesn't look dated at all. Most people think it is new when looking quickly or not inspecting. But upon inpsection there are some imperfections and signs of age, as they were cabinet overlays with new doors and drawers.

But no, it doesn't look dated at all so I guess I am better off leaving the natural wood vs painting them. THANKS so much for your thoughts!
