Spinoff to post about body image after pregnancy
I was by no means a model before getting pregnant, but I do get upset sometimes about my stomach and body since I have had the baby. And it seems many of us have the same problems after baby such as extra skin, stretch marks, no muscle tone, etc.
Do you ever wonder how actresses and models look PERFECT after having a baby (like Heidi Klume)?? DH and I have had this convo and he swears they all have to have plastic surgery or something, even though they say they don't. I think many of them get c-sections done before their due date and probably have a tummy tuck done at the same time (if that can even be done). I just dont get it. How do they do it?

Re: Spinoff to post about body image after pregnancy
I was thinking about this today. How in the world these women slip back into a size 2 after giving birth is beyond me.
Did you check out the pics of Keri Russel on the Celebrity board? I think she just had her baby a week ago and she looks like she was never even pregnant.
I have no idea what my body will look like after I have this baby but I know that I am really trying to prepare myself for the worst because I do not want to be let down.

I hate looking at celeb's after they have babies, its so easy for them to get in shape! I would look like a runway model too if I had a personal cook and a personal trainer!!
I'm sure a lot of plastic surgery helps too!

Re: Spinoff to post about body image after pregnancy
i think its a lot easier to get back into rock hard shape like some celebrities do because they have personal chefs cooking them tasty yet healthy foods all day long. They also have personal trainers that work their a$$es off like 8 hrs a day while nanny's watch their kids. Its soooooooo much easier.
That is the reason I could never find my way back into the gym after giving birth. There was no one to watch DS. So I had to resort to tapes at home for cardio, hand held weights for weight training... and I also started rollerblading with the baby in the jogging stroller. All have worked out phenomanally for me. I have to say though, it took a whole year after giving birth to really start seeing a difference. All of a sudden after the first year, my body started going back to the way it was before pregnancy by itself. And the working out here and there only helped it along.
Dont get so down on yourself, its very hard, being a mother is the most rewarding yet most difficult job out there.. you DONT GET TO PUNCH OUT! EVER! just do what you can when you can.. you'll start to see results.

Re: Spinoff to post about body image after pregnancy
I gained over 80lbs during my pregnancy and busted my arse to loose it and get back into shape. I walked from day 5 post partum every morning then once he was 2 months Dh was deploying so I joined the local gym because they had free care during classes (cha ching, I could work out, have human conversation and get a shower!!) and did step throughout the winter till he got back all while still walking or doing windsor pilates on tape. At 1 year I got myself an eliptical at Sears and I'll use it for an 1/2 hour a few nights a week. Except for some minor boob damage from pregnancy and breastfeeding I have to say I am so happy with how I look now especially since I gained some curves from the pregnancy. What helped alot was that I had a May baby and had the warm weather on my side for getting out. I really think if your proactive about working out it makes a huge difference.
So I can only imagine if your a celeb and have a nanny, trainer and chef!

and, I read somewhere that many of them have their babies a month early (36 weeks) since it is "safe" at that time, and the last 4 weeks is what really gets your body all distorted.

Re: Spinoff to post about body image after pregnancy
wow, today is the first day that while reading this website i ACTUALLY got mad!
i am not a supermodel, i dont have a personal chef or a personal trainer....before i got pregnant, i was a size 10, 165 pounds...i got on a diet, lost weight, and 2 months later got preggo at 150 at a size 6....i re-gained 25 pounds, and 6 months post preggo i was down to 130 and now a size 2....it bothers me that many of u think it is impossible to do... i watch what i eat, i stay away from a lot of bread and pasta, but dont get my wrong- i love doritos and cookies (im eating cookies right now and a piece of leftover bday cake from hannahs birthday), but ill do the junk food about 2 or 3 times a week...i eat what i want, but i excersize too, i was running 11 days post partum, and when i found out i was pregnant, i SO FEARED having that belly u get, that i was doing situps and crunches right when i saw that second pink line and did them 3 times a week until i was about 5 or 6 months along. (i also did this bc i heard the stronger ur stomach is, the easier ur labor....my labor was 7 hours and i pushed 4 times)...so anyway, all the previous posts bothered me...i work hard to stay at the weight i am at now, and it bothers me that everyone thinks u have to have cooks and surgeries and trainers........................

You seriously got MAD reading the other posts??
People are just saying that most celebrities look like they NEVER had a baby right after birth. And most women, non celebrity run of the mill women, need time to get back into shape.
No one is knocking your fitness regime or saying it can't be done. A lot of us are just amazed at how it seems so fast for celebrities. Lots of other things to get mad over, don't you know? And thats great that you are in such amazing shape. Good for you!

no - I think what the ladies on here are saying is not that they look pretty good after the baby - its that a few weeks after giving birth, they are walking in their underwear for a Victoria Secret show.... And Denise Richards was posing nude in playboy...
I have to say that 11 weeks post partum, I am finally, FINALLY beginning to see my body come back to normal. I am not fitting into all of my pre-PG clothes, but pretty darn close...
My belly is pretty flat for 11 wks PP - but after I gave birth it went down immediately - my butt and thighs are a whole other story
But - I eat very little during the day - not because I am trying to lose weight per se, but it was always how I ate before I got pregnant - I am very picky and dont waste my calories on stuff that I dont love. When I go to my favorite restaraunt, I can put it away, but thats very rare...
I am very active and work out regularly... not as much as I did before baby, but I'm doing what I can. The fact that people look at me and can't believe I just had a baby says a lot...
1st of all - these women looked the way they did before babies because of genetics. They also have genetics on their side for pregnancy and everything else - but, these women make their livings off their looks. We do not, so we do what we can when we can, but these women MUST, MUST get back into shape or they will fall off the face of the earth. So their full time job is dieting and working out. They do it during pregnancy as well, plain and simple.
as for me, I was never a supermodel, but I was relatively thin before pregnancy. Most women saw my pregnancy pics - I didnt even look that big until my 3rd trimester. Whatever the reason - genetics or the way I carried, or whatever, when I gave birth, although I complained about being huge, I was a size 10, and now a size 8. Many women who were never pregnant would like to be that size... but everyones bodies are different....
Heidi Klum will always look like Heidi Klum even when she's 70.... Plain and simple!

I'm not sure why that would make you mad either. Personally, I do know that it is possible to get back into shape for me. I just don't have the time to work out. Or I don't make the time. DD hardly naps during the day and by the time she goes to bed at 7:30, I am exhausted and need some downtime. DH travels for work most weeks Mon-Thurs and we live far away from our friends & relatives, so I can't leave Lily with anyone. I could join a gym that has childcare and am seriously considering that now. I did join a Mommy & Baby Pilates class at the hospital where Lily was born, but that didn't work out very well. The class was at 4:30 and Lily would have a meltdown everyday at that time. I know I need to make a better effort to eat better too. It's been hard for me. I think it's great that you've been able to get back into such great shape.

Re: Spinoff to post about body image after pregnancy
Oh it is duable you just have to work hard!
My stepsister has rock hard abs after having 2 boys, 1 vag, 1 csection she is 5'0 and gained 80 lbs with both boys and she is back to her size 0.My gf just had a baby in jan, she is back into her size 0 too. she had a csection, but she is naturally thin- BUT she could have easily kept that 30 lbs on if she didnt watch what she ate too. Her tummy is flat too. Me- I am almost there, it is really really hard work- you have to watch what you eat, the carbs, do cardio and weight training at least 5 days a week for at least an hour. you have to make the time for it too. It is possible ladies, you CAN do it!!!!
edit to say- NEITHER of the girls go to gyms they do the workouts at HOME, treadmill and video workouts, and light weights. I belong to a gym but havent gone, I do treadmil and free weights at home
