Spinoff to sad but worth watching...
Should the infant carseat be secured to the car other then the seatbelt?
That is the only way I think my carseat can be secured in the car.

if your car has the LATCH system, you should use that. Otherwise, its the seatbelt.
I thought of the same thing when watching that video - a lot of seats are secured only by a seatbelt. If that fails, the 5 point harness doesn't help

Re: Spinoff to sad but worth watching...
I would get your carseat checked by a professional if you think your carseat is not in correctly.
We went to Republic airport to the State police where they installed it for us correctly..
I thinkI posted the info on here at some point, I would do a search.

Re: Spinoff to sad but worth watching...
I'm a little confused. We had our infant car seat installed by the NCPD but I asked them about the latch system in our car (there are two connections in the trunk) and they said that was for later with the next car seat we use not the infant one so I'm pretty sure they secured this one using the seat belt?

We use the latch system. The fire department said if you have it that it is safer to use that.

If your car if older than a 2003 model, it may not have the latch system. I believe that latch systems were required in all cars manufacturered after 2003.
The latch system in the best, if you have it. Definitely have it checked if you are at all worried.

My Britax Boulevard is attached rear facing using both a seatbelt and a tether.
I don't think that latch is always safer than a properly installed seat belt. For certain carseats consumer reports says the seat belt offers better crash protection...

I have the LATCH system but not in the center seat, which is where I have the infant seat.

If you feel inside the seat behind the passenger and driver side you should feel two metal hooklike things. This is where the car seat latches into. We used this for the infant seat and the convertible car seat because we were told by the fire department that it is safer.
