Spinoff to Silly Question, Time???
Do you think dogs have any concept of time?? Like when you leave the house for an hour or 5 hours, think they know the difference?
I know weird question, but every time I leave the house, all I think about is getting back before Bella kills me!!!

I don't know about lengths of time, but Lilly sure lets us know if it's a MINUTE past her feeding time! It's amazing - she knows exactly when the clock hits 6:30!

Re: Spinoff to Silly Question, Time???
I feed a feral cat colony and like clockwork all are lined up at the exact time every night. If I arrive an hour earlier they are nowhere to be found. I have tnr'd almost 90% of the colony..total cats in colony about 30.

They say that dogs have no concept of time..but I know that if I am gone for twenty minutes Misty's greeting is much less enthusiastic than when I have been gone all day.

Re: Spinoff to Silly Question, Time???
I definitely think that they have a concept of time. We used to have a dog growing up who was an escape artist. She would break out of the backyard but she always knew to come home before my dad got home from work. Daylight savings time really screwed her up though

Re: Spinoff to Silly Question, Time???
Our trainer told us that they don't in the concept of us being out of the house - our dog gets just excited to see us if we're gone for one hr as he does when we're gone for work all day! But when it comes to breakfast and dinner - he definitely has some kind of internal clock!

Re: Spinoff to Silly Question, Time???
I have read that animals have no concept of time. I guess their concept is just different. My dog knows dinnertime for sure!!!! When I go out and come back, he is pretty enthusiastic most of the time, but he went totally crazy when I got back from my 2 week honeymoon!!!!!!
