Spinoff to sleeping positions???????
Why are you suppose to sleep on your left side? Why is it better for the baby. This is my second time around and never heard this before. I am only 19 weeks tomorrow and already toss and turn all night to get comfy(haha) but I am curious?

Re: Spinoff to sleeping positions???????
I'm in the medical profession and the reason for sleeping on your left side is that when laying on your left side, once the baby is bigger the weight of the baby and the pregnany belly can press on your inferior Vena Cava constricting blood flow to the heart. Lots of women still sleep on teh left side though and are fine. Whenever, we take care of a pregnant woman we always have her laying on her left side as a precaution. I wouldn't freak out about it too much. See what your MD's view is on it. Also, you really can't control rolling over onto your left side in the middle of the night
Edited cause I don't know my lefts from my rights

How many months or weeks should you really try to avoid sleeping on your right side? I am currently 12w and alternate between sleeping on my left and right sides. I avoid sleeping on my back all together but I'm now getting second thoughts about sleeping on my right side

You don't really need to worry about this until late in your second trimester, beginning of 3rd. Next time you have an OB appointment ask your MD their view on this. I wouldn't stress too much about it. Try to sleep on your right side but don't freak out if you wake up and your laying on your left side
