no they are in third grade. I talk about the election etc. in terms they can understand. We are studying a combo of the Election, presidents, and Washington D.C.

If they ask me who I will vote for and why, I will tell them, but I dont preach my views on them. they are entitled to their opinions.

I teach first grade so it's not an issue but most of the kids in my class think Obama IS the president, lol

Same here. Although my school is doing a big election push and the kids are really becoming educated on the issues. Those students who know me and know the issues know who I'm voting for without even asking.Chat Icon

I would never share my political views with them and it makes me really angry when other teachers in my school do this. The students are very impressionable and look up to us as leaders, and they may base their opinions on ours. I allow them to talk about who they would want to vote for, but I always plead the fifth when they ask me my opinion.

No way! The students share "their" views which are their parents views, but I never share my views. I find that they repeat everything to their parents and some people have very strong political views. Better left unsaid.
