spinoff to the second baby post - bf related
I noticed that some mom's mentioned they would bf longer with the second child.
If you posted that you would / should have keep going, what were some of the reasons for stopping - and why would you go longer.
I could use some motivation. At 4am... formula begins to look pretty good.

Honestly, formula isn't really all it's cracked up to be, in terms of being "easier". There's mixing, warming, cleaning bottles... not to mention the cost. And of course making sure you always have it stocked in the house. Nothing like running out in some horrible storm because you forgot the formula on your last Target run. At least your breast is always right there, lol!
I did bf for six months, then did formula for six months, so I feel I have a good amount of experience with both.
hang in there!!!!

Re: spinoff to the second baby post - bf related
i haven't posted on the other post yet, but i do plan on BFing for as long as i can next time.
for my ds i made it 4-5 months and then had to stop because my supply was dwindling from lots of pumping at work and not enough nursing. my body doesn't respond to the pump too well.
i tell myself that my initial supply could have been greater if i had nursed more frequently in those first few weeks. my ds was a lazy feeder and often i just gave up. next time i will try to be more persistent and hope for the best!
BUT if it doesn't work out again, i will have no problem whatsoever going to formula.

Very true! BFing is easier. You never have to worry about sterilizing or cleaning. The only thing I would do differently is introduce the bottle sooner and stick with it (at least once a day) so that dc doesn't refuse the bottle. I BFed for 8 months.
