Spinoff to weird food issue - this is acceptable now?
The other day I saw a lady in the deli with a thermometer walking around poking all the salads at the buffet. Is this the new thing? This is ok?
I didn't like the idea that someone was poking food I might eat with a thermometer that's been God knows where.
At first I thought that maybe she was some kind of inspector. But then I saw her put the thermometer in her purse and serve herself some soup (I guess she decided the other stuff was not safe).

I can see the concern with foods being proper temperature but if it's that serious she should probably pass on buffet style dining. And gross for just putting it back in her bag.

SHE's the one making the food unsafe to eat!!!! 
I understand her being concerned about the temp, but it's completely unsanitary to spread stuff around like that.

That's not just weird, it's disgusting!!!! If she just took that thermometer out of her purse and stuck it in all that food she just spread all kinds of things around!!
Not to mention if she stuck it in a seafood salad for example, and then stuck it in something else that someone who is allergic to seafood might eat.
I def would have said something to someone working behind the counter!!!!

I thought of that too!
She did wipe it off with a tissue between pokings but that's not exactly the same as cleaning it.

I witnessed a woman at a diner stick her french fry in the ketchup bottle. She couldn't get the ketchup out so she dipped it in.
I told the waiter to take that bottle of of circulation.

Absolutely! I'd be all over her a$$. She pretty much contaminated all of the food for everyone there.

Are you sure she wasn't a manager or something? Cause all food has to be at a certian temperature to stay safe. Maybe she was checking temps, then going on break!
If not, weird. I own a food thermometer from my dietetic internship, and I'm a little nuts about food temps and cross contamination in my house, but I would never do that in a store.
