Spinoff to "written off" friends...
Is there friends that you have written off or lost touch with that you feel bad about or miss? Do you wish they were back in your life?
I had a friendship like that. She was toxic and mean and I gave it back to her one day and poof that was all she wrote. I heard she was moving out of state (from a friend of a friend) and thought about calling her. Well, then I heard she said something pretty terrible about a friend who had a recent tragedy. The friend of this girl had a stillborn baby at 25 weeks and she found out she was pregnant. She made comments about the friend getting pregnant again and how "selfish" she was to her family and husband. It all came back to me about how nasty she was and I quickly put the phone down.
There is another friendship that I really feel bad about losing (and it was over total b.s.) but it couldn't have meant much to either of us if it feel apart so easily.

I definitely miss the friendship but worry about the stress it would cause being friends again

yup... there are people i miss, but they are ultimately not worth the stress. and even if we tried to be friends again, i know it wouldnt feel the same. like trying to live in a different era.

I say I miss the friendship what is was yeaaaaaaaaars ago, but know that it would never be the same as it once was... therefore, I wouldn't pick up the phone to call now. People change, and I can't keep up with that... especially if it's for the worst.

Exactly...I think once that connection is lost, it's very, very hard to try to get it back. I know there is a friendship that I "outgrew" I suppose. We are in very different places in our lives and while she looks on my life as very boring, I look on hers like a total mess and a waste. There's no common ground whatsoever and it's very difficult to even maintain a conversation without running out of things to say. Nostalgia can only go so far.

I miss what I thought the friendship was. I do not miss what it actually turned out to be, but I have to say it is definitely hard, especially when I look at my wedding pics, to see my friend that is no longer a friend

There are people I would like back in my life when our friendship was good, but I wouldn't want to pick up where we left off, since there is a good reason the friendship was dropped.
