spinoff: What is your child's FAVORITE food that drives you crazy trying to supply?
AJ will eat 4-5 fresh strawberries (quartered please, thank you) every morning and afternoon. um.. HELLO expensive!
I'm dying here!
I've been trying to convince her that mandarin oranges are yummy too, but she's no dummy. And no, she doesn't like the frozen strawberries.
I have never been so interested in the weather in California before in my LIFE!!!
Their freeze of last year killed the strawberry batches and finding fresh strawberries that aren't brusied or ready to rot is a battle. Just recently they've gotten better.
I love that she's into fresh fruit but I wish it were grapes

Silly but.. I live next to a major strawberry city. Its a producer for a lot of strawberries in the region and country. Same for watermelon, peanuts and peaches. Gotta love Texas farmland. So Spring there's a huge strawberry festival but more importantly the stores are stocked full of local grown fresh strawberries for a good long while. Its the winter that kills me. When they are out of season its imported (i think) and harder to find fresh (longer lasting) fruits.
But yeah, I'm thinking of growing some myself! My luck she'll be 'over it' as soon as the first batch comes in!

Blueberries-I only buy organic and the small container is 5.99. I just found organic at TJ's for 2.99 I was in heaven
Kiwi they like and luckily that si relatively cheap. I can't even get organic strawberries...

These pineapple yogurt granola bites by Dole....They taste AMAZING but are hard to find, and like $5 for a teeny bag.

I feel like I'm always buying yogurt and bananas! He loves mangoes too but poor baby hasnt them in so long bc they are such a PITA!

Blueberries and strawberries. I HATE buying produce that is not grown in the United States simply because it is not in season. Fruit that doesn't grow in the US (like mango) I put in a different category.

My grandparents used to have a tree in their yard in FL .......they'd send us crates of them !! Heaven !!

Really?? I have never once seen a mango in the store that was grown in the US. Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica - yes, but the US?? Never.
Hmmm, I will have to pester the local market now for US grown mangos. Thanks for the info!!

For me, I had taken DS to Greece in November and he went absolutely crazy over a yogurt they have there. I have to go to a Greek supermarket in Astoria to get it because it's not sold anywhere on LI
