Spots on lungs...
My FIL was just told that they found spots on his lungs, and that they've gotten bigger since his last visit (last year).
What are the chances that something like this is NOT cancer? I've never heard of a positive diagnosis after having found spots on the lungs. Are there any other possibilities?
My FIL's PET scan was today, and this Friday he will have a full body scan.
Please, keep him in your thoughts.

My MIL had one, they decided to removed a node from her lung and it was indeterminate. They sent it to Mayo and they couldn't say 100%, but they were 90+% sure it was not cancerous. It's been a few years and she hasn't had anything else turn up.

Did the PET scan not cover the whole body? I thought that was the point of it....I only ask because I am having one on 6/1 and now I am confused.
I had spots on my lungs, I was FREAKED out, the number one place ACC (my cancer) mets itself is the lungs so I thought it spread. I was heart broken...than I learned it was "just" pneumonia.
Hope it turns into nothing

Deb, I could be wrong about the name of the test he has to have on Friday. I'm sure you're right about the PET scan covering the whole body...

If they have been watching them since last year, it sounds like it could be nodules or calicifications. They are usually not cancerous. It sounds like they are testing further because they have grown but, I'm going to be optimistic here, because I can't believe you watch anything suspicious for a year.

DH's cousin had spots found on her lungs. They tested and so far not cancerous, I don't know if they have a diagnosis as to what it is just yet.

I'll keep you updated. This Friday is my FIL's PET scan, and they said they will know all the results by this Tuesday.
