SPR: bakers.. am I crazy?
Has anyone ever attempted this cake?
I think it is soo cute but OMG.. the instructions are soo intimidating..

Are you planning on making this stand like 3 dimensional?
Or is it FLAT with a 3 d look?
I think I could do it if it was Flat... You could probably re-create it Flat and still get a great reaction...
If it is Standing... there is no way I would attempt that yet and I bake a lot... lol

 yes it is standing.. It looks like the neck, ears and legs are made out of cookies.. I think I'm gonna try it once now and if see if I can just put it together before even attempting the Icing.. I have 2 months, do you think that's enough time to practice?
Anyone else have any good websites to get ideas for birthday cakes without fondant, i've never worked with that stuff.

Oooh, I can't wait to see pics of her party! I was THISCLOSE to doing a giraffe theme for DS' party and went a totally different direction, but every time I see any giraffe party stuff, I doubt myself again!

Doesn't sound that bad to do, with a lot of patience.
For extra support I would put a dowel rod from the head thru the neck into the body.

I just did a sitting bear...and I found that tough! Took me 3 tries to even get the cake right...to be sitting and not falling apart HA. But, I would try it at least...and just stick tons of sticks in that neck. It's def cute....but I can see how hard it'll be. And then transporting it....aaah!

I just looked at the recipe and I felt like I needed Cliff Notes to get through it.
Some of the stuff didn't even make sense to me.
It might as well have been in greek!
 
For example:
In advance: Prepare base board using 1/2 sports ball and football pans with neck and leg patterns for size. Cut to fit and wrap with foil
I got that far and was like
Then I had to stop because I felt very unintelligant!
But that cake is CRAZY CUTE!
Anyone who can make that thing has some AMAZING talent!
