SPR: Donating Toys

We went through DD's room recently and bagged a bunch of stuffed animals and toys that DD has hardly ever used. Where can I donate toys to? I checked our local church, but they don't seem to be taking toys. Any suggestions? I'm located in Nassau.

What about the big brothers/big sister clothing/toy drop off bins?

Check w/ your local catholic school (especially if they have an early childhood program). We're always getting donations at our school (of toys, dress up clothes, videos, etc.)

Our Lady of Peace thrift shop (in Lynbrook) takes donations. The thrift shop is only open like 2 days a week so if you are going to drop off be sure and check which days...

We tend to donate toys and stuffed animals to Schneiders Childrens hospital. They took such amazing care of DS while he was there and to see the sick patients there get a little smile on their faces when a nurse hands them an extra toy or stuffed animal to hold onto really touched my heart.

I only got to experience the kids with cancer getting toys, but I try to always bring to them.

Otherwise, is there a local women's shelter near you?

We always donate our toys to NUMC's pediatric floor. My mom works there and I used to volunteer there in the play room and they always need new toys! Let me know if you want any info
