SPR how can we save money each month so I can go back to staying home

We've been going over our monthly budget expenses and they're frightening. for ex we have one of those plans where our oil and electric are budgeted over the year and we pay $350 every month! Chat Icon and $200 every month on electric Chat Icon ! But we've got to heat and cool the house. So I'm asking what things have you all done so that you can stay at home with your kids.

You could:

Not eat out (if you do)

Replace your regular light bulbs with compact flourescent.

Wash laundry in cold water

Let the dishwasher air dry

Cut out fancy cable packages (if you have them). Basic cable is like $15

Clip coupons and use them. Switch to generic to save even more money. Buy only things that are on sale.

Have your DH take his lunch to work (if he eats out everyday).

Cut down your cell phone package (if you have one)

Cut your own lawn (if you use a service).

Eliminate manicures/pedicures, do them yourself (get a PedEgg for your feet though!)

Then factor in how much money a job is actually costing you. Factor in the gas, the wear and tear on the car, the clothing expense, childcare, and the increased income which equates to more taxes being paid.

A couple more:

Buy gently used clothing for your DC at the thrift store or ebay.

Sell outgrown clothing or unused household things on ebay.

We do almost every one of these so I can continue to stay at home.

We were not doing well BEFORE I had him but now things are even tighter.

So We just "manage" and we do ok.

We have some stressful periods when moneys REALLY tight, but somehow we come out on top in the end.
