Ours are good for a kid, but not a dog They are a kind of microfiber material that's treated with a special product, so if DS spills anything we just have to wipe it with a damp cloth and it's good as new. But it would not hold up to claws! Sorry!

She doesn't really scratch, or anything.
As I've said to a few people out of the two of them, Mags is the neater one

Re: SPR-Tell me about your couches/living room set
I bought a new set right before Nate was born almost 3 yrs ago... it looks like it's been through a war. A few things I've learned: - dark wood shows every single scratch, dent etc. - skip the coffee table for an ottoman because boys seem to like to bang all sorts of things on tables (and it shows) - Stain guard on the couch is a lifesaver (why use a napkin when you can wipe your sauce covered mouth along the couch cushion ?)

Ahh, good idea! We have a coffee table now and it is literally COVERED in cars and monster trucks (even though he has his own table AND a train table )

Kate, ask Lauren about hers....it is the most functional living room set I've ever seen...it has recliners, storage, cupholders and an ottoman (w/ more storage).

Re: SPR-Tell me about your couches/living room set
Our set in the den is leather and I couldnt live without it. I was actually talking to my mom about it yesterday saying I can't imagine having fabric. It's takes a beating and still looks good.
Also - if the place where you get it offers a warranty/replacement program, GET IT. My set is from Macy's and I have used it twice. Once they repaired the couch and the other time they replaced it!!

Re: SPR-Tell me about your couches/living room set
If you go with leather, get real leather & try to stay away from "bonded leather" if you can. We purchased bonded leather couches from Bob's a year or two ago & they look worn and awful; whereas my 6 year old 100% leather couch looks fab!

Re: SPR-Tell me about your couches/living room set
We have leather (we used to have microfiber and it holds/catches EVERYTHING!)
Leather is so easy to keep clean and looks nice...we don't let our dogs on the couch though...they ruined our microfiber couches
