SPR-What do you use/How do you clean your Hardwood Floors?
I use a swivel sweeper and vaccuum at least 6-8 times a day to keep dust etc off floors, but then to mop...I'm still not seeing the floors that clean and the babies are all over it all day, grosses me out.
I have tried a plain old mop , a swifter, a Mr. Clean eraser mop and we have a Bissel steam mop.
None seem to work well?
Help?

I now feel like a slob. 6-8 times a day? Your floors are probably much cleaner then you think they are. Do you allow shoes worn in your home? Maybe try a shoeless house and that will help you feel better.

i have a friend who swears by her swiffer wetjet for hardwood floors. i am going to get one this week so i'm not sure how it works yet.

It is the swivel sweeper for goodness sakes. It takes me all of 2 minutes top to do our apt. ( I don't do the bedrooms...just where the kids crawl)....should have eloborated that...I have to do it after every snack and meal as 3 kids make a huge mess and the babies will eat the crumbs......believe me I don't deserve praise and its not a lot of work...lmao
What's happening is though..I mopped yesterday and there was still all dirt on the babies feet ? I mopped hard too....I don't think the mop/cleaner is working well.Tt

I run the dust mop over the floor a few times a day too. it's really not that much work.
as far as the floors, we are a shoeless (or at least an "outdoor" shoeless) household-well, we try to be. it does help but some days it just seems like the floors are never clean. his feet can still be dirty.
I only use water though. I just use a CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN mop head b/c I cannot stand the site of a dirty one. I clean my mop head like a fanatic when I finish. and I hate all of those little 'attach a papertowel" type swiffer-esque produts.
I have also been known to get on my hands and knees to scrub them to death with a sponge.
I think kids just have an uncanny knack to find even the most embedded dirt
I wouldn't go to crazy on your hardwoods b/c that will just erode the finish, which leads to bigger problems than dirt. refinishing floors is not the most environmentally friendly thing, in the micro AND macro sense!
ETA: kim and aggy from "How Clean is YOur House" on BBCA recommend cleaning wooden floors with steeped tea (no sugar, obviously) I haven't tried it but they say the tannic acid is good!

I do it all too...the swivel sweeper, the mop, I use the steam mop as well...I tried vinegar, etc....
right now (as I take a break to type)... what I am doing is I swivel sweep or vacuum 1st then take one of those clorox disinfecting wipes and put it on the dry swiffer mop....I scrub with that... then I go over it with the steam mop.
Seems to be what works best here. I don't have as much wood flooring as you do, I have linoleum in the kitchen (most of the floor you see) so that is what I have to keep clean mostly.
Lola's knees would be FILTHY from crawling around no matter what I did. Thank god she is walking so I don't "see" it anymore  because no matter what I did...it never seemd 100% clean.

I use a vinegar/water solution to clean our hardwood floors. Works great for us.
I love my swiffer wet jet but I don't use it on the hardwood.

Have you tried a microfiber mop? You can get a few different heads & throw them in the washer, so you an go over everything once, watch it get dirty, and then run over a 2nd time with a new head, to see if there is anything left.
You may also want to just use water or vinegar & water, b/c I think sometimes the cleaners leave a reside that attracts more dirt.

Vinegar and water here too with a mop, though I'm lucky if I clean the floors 6-8 times in 2 months! Your floors must be spotless.

I dont mop that much, just the electronic cordless sweeper...LOL like I said if I spend 10 minutes TOTAL a day its a lot.

I vacuum, then use the swiffer dry mop to pick up any fine dust, THEN I use a microfiber mop (bought it at Costco, with green microfiber pads) and use OrangeGlow wood floor polish. You just squirt and mop. The floors stay shiny and nice. I've used a swiffer wet jet, but they tend to leave the floors dull and sticky. Yes, it's a 3 step process, but I only polish the floors a couple of times a month. I vacuum and swiffer weekly, sometimes more....
