Spring break cruise for next year

If you have cruised over spring break, did you book far in advance or wait for a last minute deal?
We just drove to Myrtle Beach this past week and although the drive wasn't as bad as I expected, the weather wasn't great. And since spring break is even earlier next year, Myrtle is out!
I'm thinking of cruising out of NY. I know the first day or so won't be too warm, but the weather should be pretty nice in Florida and the Bahamas.
Right now it would be over $3500 for me and my two DS. My DH doesn't love cruises so he would just stay home and work. But $3500 for one adult and two kids seems ridiculous to me. I'm kind of hoping to hold out until the last minute and get a better deal.
Has anyone gotten a better rate towards the last minute? Or do you think it would sell out before I could get a deal since it's spring break?

DH and I are particular about stateroom location, so we personally would never book a last minute deal.

Re: Spring break cruise for next year

So I happen to have some of this info for you....

I was looking into a cruise for tthis past spring. I was looking in early January and I priced out the breaks and I havent thrown all my notes away even though we couldnt get our acts together to actually book this cruise with the other family involved but thats another story...

Anyway in early january the brekaway for this past spring break week for 4 people in a Mid Ship Balcony room was pricing at $6296
The Gem for a 9 night out of NY was pricing at about $5623 for the same category of room

On RCCL the Granduer out of Baltimore was pricing at 5698 for a category D1(balcony) room

Hope this helps!

personally I think earlier is better to book in this case.

I have gone on cruises twice during spring break. I would def book early because it might sell out. There were a lot of college age kids on our cruise I noticed as well.

It might not sell out, but the price in my opinion, will def be higher the closer you get to the actual date. All about supply and demand... I was looking at a cruise a while back for this August out of ny to Bermuda and it skyrocketed within the past couple months... Obviously bc it's high season with kids out of school... Best to book as early as possible when traveling during high season...

I think there is a good chance it will sell out. I know people who cruised out of NY for this past President's week break (when it's really cold!) and that sold out a while before the cruise.

I was looking into the new Quantum of the Seas for Easter week next year...April 5th! It's not that bad of pricing! There is also another sailing a few weeks later!

Re: Spring break cruise for next year

We just got back from a spring break cruise. We booked in January. I paid about $860 each for my mom & I and about $560 for my son for a mini suite with balcony (but were upgraded 2 days before sailing to the owner's suite at no additional charge). I thought that was a great price but we did cruise out of Florida so perhaps the prices are more leaving from NY. We took a Princess cruise.
