St Thomas
I am looking for recommendations of where to stay in St. Thomas this summer. July or August. We're 2 adults, 2 teens, & a baby just under 1. Any recs for where we should look into staying? I've been a couple times but I cruises so I don't know the resorts.
For covid purposes, the adults will be fully vaxxed. The teens are pending the 12-15 approval. We've all had Covid very recently as well.

I would go to St. Maarten over St. Thomas. Nicer beaches and nicer hotels. I was researching St. Thomas hotels and came up empty. We stopped there on a cruise and it was nice for the day but I wouldn't want to vacation there.

Re: St Thomas
Agreed. St Thomas and the US Virgin Islands isn’t as nice as the British Virgin Islands. I would choose Turks and Caicos for the best beaches, hotels, and super safe.

I've been to St. Thomas, Turks & St. Maarten & I agree St Thomas isn't my first pick. The issue is the kids need new passports & my older 2 are from my 1st marriage & their dad is out of state caring for another child of his that is ill until some time in June which doesn't leave us much opportunity to get the proper paperwork & still get passports sorted in time. I hadn't really worried about it sooner because obviously we haven't needed tbem. Maybe I'll try to come up with another idea.

Re: St Thomas
I see what your saying. You do not need both parents present for a passport for a minor. This is from the US passport website.
You would be able to get it in time for your trip this summer.
If one parent/guardian cannot go with the child to apply for the passport, they can give permission by completing Form DS-3053 “Statement of Consent." You must submit the completed form with the child's passport application. The parent that cannot go with the child must:
Sign and date Form DS-3053 in the presence of a certified notary public, and Submit a photocopy of the front and back side of the ID that they present to the notary public with Form DS-3053.

Re: St Thomas
We went to St. Thomas over spring break - we have a 9, 10 and 13 year old. We stayed at the residences at the Ritz Carlton. We loved it. There's not a ton to do but we went to coral world one day and kayaked with the Dolphins which was really cool. They have other fun things to do there like Snuba, but I felt my younger two were a little too young. We also did a catamaran snorkel trip with lunch at a floating taco bar, and another catamaran sunset trip to Lovango, a private island off of St. John. Overall we had a great time.
Just as an FYI, when we went thru security at JFK on our way to St. Thomas the guard insisted we needed our passports. I had brought them anyway but if I had had to argue with her that we didn't need them I am not sure how long it would have taken to get thru. Make sure you bring birth certificates for kids that you don't have passports for because you will need them to get back. Going thru customs on the way home the customs agent told me we did not need passports for the children, however it does make getting thru customs faster.
Hope this helps!
