Stamped or stained concrete in basement? Anyone do this?
Is it terribly expensive? Are you happy with the results? Is it durable? Pros? Cons? Who did you use?
Thinking of doing this in our small basement. If we went the staining route, I might even consider learning how to do it myself. But i like the "hardwood" look stamped concrete too...

Yes, please do! I am super interested in this. Did you stamp or stain? If you stamped, what design did you use? (wood look, stone look, a more decorative stamp, etc...)
Looking at other online message boards, I've seen people mention pricing anywhere from the $8-$12/sq ft range. Does this seem generally accurate? Or am I looking at way more than that?
Thanks... glad to see someone has done it and loves it!

We received an estimate for stained & polished and I believe it was around $8sqft.

Re: Stamped or stained concrete in basement? Anyone do this?
i got stained concrete on almost my entire main floor. i LOVEEEEE the look of it. unfortunately, it has cracked in quite a few places. some places where you hear it cracking beneath your feet (where i have area rugs)
the guy said he would redo/fix it, but it's such a big job and very inconvenient.
im wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Chatham-Chick - thank you, that is quite helpful!
Dani - oh no! Are the cracks in the concrete itself? Or does it look more like the sealant is cracking? Now I am a little concerned....

My BIL had this done in his house in Brooklyn - like Dani, it cracked in places but his contractor admitted that he lied that he had experience doing it, so that was probably the reason. He had it redone and now it's perfect and he loves it.

This is the man/company we met with: Concrete Perfect Solutions
Based on the portfolio he showed me, he did beautiful work. We ultimately decided it was a bit too pricey for what we were looking for (basement playroom & temporary laundry room) and opted for wood look vinyl.
I'll have to check with my DH to make sure it was $8.
