starting foods

Did any moms not start foods at 4 months and wait it out a little longer?

Re: starting foods

I had planned on waiting until 6 months, but the doctor said to start a couple of days ago, at 5 months so I did. I'm only giving her Oatmeal for now.

Re: starting foods

My PEd starts at either 3-4 months, when they are drinking 30-40oz's a day and or between 13-15 lbs.

At that rate , Noah will probably be almost at the end of the scale before we start.

Re: starting foods

I started around 5 months with stage 1 but then almost immediately went to stage 2 and now at 9 months we are doing stage 2 (2 jars at lunch and 2 at dinner). hope that helps some.

Re: starting foods

My doctor advised waiting until 6 months but I read DD's signs and started them at 5 months...

I give her cereal and 1/2 jar of non-green veggies (carrots, sweet potatoes or squash) per day...

I was always told and read that breastmilk/formula was the most nutritious thing you can be feeding to DC but then I come on here and I see so many moms starting cereal and foods at around 3/4 months. It just threw me off a bit.

I personally would agree with you doctor in re: to not before 5 months.

Re: starting foods

We were planning on waiting until 6 months but started her a couple of weeks before. We started with barley cereal and fruits. Most people do veggies first but we opted for fruits. Now she loves everything we feed her.
