How much time (days) do you leave between starting new foods?
I started 1/13 to feed Liam solids. We started rice cereal and then on 1/20 we started rice in the AM and oatmeal in the PM. I stopped the oatmeal this past Tuesday as I think it was making Liam too gassy. So then I was feeding him rice cereal twice a day until this past Saturday. Now I am doing 1/2 jar of sweet potato and rice in the AM and the same in the PM. I know that I should give him the same thing for about 4 days before I introduce a new food.
My question is this - do I substitute the rice for the new food and give sweet potato and ________ (probably avocado) and not give rice at all, or do I alternate, like in the AM do rice and sweet potato and in the PM I can do either rice and avocado or sweet potato and avocado?
And further down the road as I introduce more and more foods how do you know what to give and do you give more than one serving of each at a time? This has been the most confusing part for me, my son's pedi really has given me no guidance on this other than the very basic guidelines like how many days before going on to a new food.
Thanks!

I would do the rice plus the new veggie. Also I waited 3 days for reactions. Always start the new food in the morning so you can see a reaction right away, if there is one.
eta. I didn't mix foods until I was sure they weren't allgeric to anything. Also the only reason I mixed them was to get them to take something they didn't like by mixing it with something they did.

Thanks!
So maybe do each new veggie with the rice insted of with a veg he's already tried? I figured that would be the smartest thing to do, but do you think rice 2x a day is too binding for him? So far he's still having 1 poop a day. And man the poor guy is "windy", LOL but I guess that's to be expected!

Is it bad that we started the Rice Cereal at night? We both work and want to be the ones to introduce new foods, not the nanny

You shouldn't really do it at night, because then if the baby has a bad reaction its harder to tell. Also, you don't want the baby throwing up or anyting in bed...
I say this from experience...

we did a new food every 3 or 4 days. We tried everything new at breakfast or lunch to see if there was a reaction, which we had not a one.
