Starting ivf.... so nervous
I am starting stimulation in a few weeks. I am so nervous about how I will feel, the needles, and the egg retrieval (anesthesia..  ). Any advice? Is it as bad as it seems?

You will be fine. It is overwhelming at first but it goes by quickly. The shots aren't so bad. You get used to them. Retrieval was okay. Ask any questions. I learned a lot from this board.

It's not as bad as it seems. It's easy to get overwhelmed but take it one day (one shot) at a time. It's all worth it.

It is def. overwhelming at first but it really isn't that bad. Try not and stress out!! You will be fine! Good Luck!

Good luck! My best friend started her meds and is waiting for her retrieval date...they said probably this weekend. She has her husband give her the shots and she said they aren't terrible. She hasn't felt any side effects from the meds--says she feels normal.
ETA: Today is day 13 on the meds and she said she feels a little bloated.

You will be okay! Personally I never got used to the injections and stress of it all., but it's worth the effort in the end. We are here for you!

I recently had a laparoscopy procedure to treat endometriosis and was terrified to be under anesthesia. I had never been put under before. It is nothing to be worried about. You take a few breaths from the mask and are out. I woke up very easily from it in the recovery room. I am going for an IVF consultation next week too. Then hopefully will be doing a stimulation. Hang in there.

For me, IVF was not bad at all. The worst part of IVF was waking up early every morning for monitoring and going to work after. Also, I am a type A personality so I hated not knowing ahead of time when my egg retrieval was. I hated having to wait until 48 hours before egg retrieval to find out when it was.
Other than that, it was fine.

Today is day 1. My shots start tonight. I am taking your advice.. one day at a time.

Good luck!! I commented before that my friend was also going through IVF and felt good during her injections. She had her egg retrieval on 6/24 and it went perfectly. She said she woke up and felt fine, like she could've left there and went right to work. She just got her PGS results back and is now waiting for her transfer date. Hope your cycle goes as smoothly as hers has!

I just started, as well. It's been a week. My doctor said I may be ready for retrieval on Friday.
Are you mixing Menopur vials? It is intimidating at first but it gets easier.

Today is day 5. The nurse said I have a ton of little follicles so they decreased my follistim to 75. I hope I dont get Hyperstimulation. The mixing is so intimidating!!!!! I havent noticed any side effects yet. I have to give my shots in my bum, the menopur burns!!!
Retrieval Friday! You are so close!! Have you noticed any side effects?

I'm doing my injections in my stomach. A little bruising and
the menopur does burn. That is great that you're getting a lot of follicles. I have about 6. Not too many but all I need is one to stick. Over all I haven't noticed any real side effects. Maybe a little bloating and swelling by the injection site.

Thank you! Retrieval is now either Saturday or Sunday. I found out today I have two mature eggs. I am older and had a very high FSH. I am hoping that they will fertilize.

I was in today. My lead follicle is 18mm and I have a bunch in the 12-16 mm range. I am hoping to have egg retribeal Monday-Tuesday.
Nurses say I am at risk for OHSS. So a little nervous.

Thank you. You are getting so close!! I think knowing you're almost at the end makes the injections easier. Retrieval is tomorrow. I am very excited and nervous hoping that we get a few. I was nervous about the trigger shot but it went well and was the easiest of all. Good luck. Keep us posted on when your retrieval is.
