starting to get really scared...UPDATE

Had my growth sono today at Dr. Kofinas' office. I am 32w4d today and baby boy measured 5lbs 1oz and baby girl measured 4lb 12oz!! The scary part is that Dr Kofinas wants me to go to 38-39 wks!! Is he insane??? I can not even walk anymore. I got up today got dressed went to my appt with him and am now paralyzed and stuck in bed crying in pain! I can not even get up to go to the bathroom. I can bear no weight on my hips or pubic bone thing any longer. I don't know how I am going to make it through this Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: starting to get really scared...

i was the same and the babies said to weigh the same... however leah was 4.3( they thought almost 6 lbs) and Tj was 5.0 and he also was suppose to be 6 lbs.. so you just never know and take it from me, u want ur babies with you in ur room notmon machines... i felt exactly how u did and i went into labor soon after... so maybe ur heading close to the end! i went 34w5d... everything was going normal one day then i had a stomach ache for hours like i had to poop or period crams and it was labor, who would have known lol

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon The longer they stay in the better they will be. I wanted to kill my Dr for making me wait til 36 weeks but it was better for the kids bc nobody had any issues..I had all the issues of swelling and pain from being so big....Hang in there it will be over before you know it....

Re: starting to get really scared...

I'm 36 weeks Monday.

At 34 weeks A was weighing in 5lbs 4oz and B 5lbs 1oz. I don't get another growth sono until 37 weeks but I imagine by then they will each be at least 6 and a half pounds.

I saw my OB yesterday, my scheduled c-section is for 39 weeks (April 18th) he did an internal and said my cervix was softening but doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Life is hard right now. No question. Especially while chasing after a very active 2.5 year old. But you know what, its a heck of a lot easier taking care of them in there Chat Icon And, the longer they cook the stronger/healthier little babies they will be. So try to hang in there!

I delivered at 32 weeks on a Thursday. I went to Dr. Kofinas on the monday before, he said everything looked great, the babies were measuring perfect and started preparing me for possibly going into early labor, although he said i showed no signs of it. DD measured 3lbs 8oz and DS measured like 3lbs 12oz. DD was born at 2lbs 14oz and DS was born at 4lbs 2oz. This was 3 days after. I can't imagine the measurments can be 100% accurate. There are 2 in there and there isn't o whole lot of room.

Re: starting to get really scared...

Just reading your post brought back so many memories for me! I remember bursting into tears in my car after my doctor told me she wouldn't move up my c section.

My girls were born at 37 weeks, 2 days and measured 5.14 and 6 pounds. The measurements were accurate the entirel pregnancy.

I feel your pain!!!!!

Around 37 weeks I started to get erratic contractions - and I started walking. I had horrible back pain and it took me forever to move anywhere by that point. . . but DH, DD and I walked up and down the street for maybe an hour, trying to get things moving. I went into labor the next day - though we had a c section (didnt want a vbac).

Re: starting to get really scared...

I'm sorry you're so uncomfortable, but that's great they're at high birth weights already. I'm sure they'll come earlier than 38 weeks, but the longer they're in there right now, the better!

Re: starting to get really scared...

Comming from me, who gave birth 10 weeks early to her twins, I would have given my right arm for them to stay inside of me 1 extra day.

Your discomfort is only a fraction of the self sacrifice you will be called upon to make as a mother.

Are you uncomfortable? I don't doubt that but your doctor knows best.

Re: starting to get really scared...

Dr. Kofinas kept telling me I was going to make it to 38-39 wks. I was having contractions at 32 wks. I ended up having my boys at 35 wks. 1 day.

well like I had predicted I didn't make it anywhere close to 38 weeks. Delivered last Sunday at just about 33weeks. Contrary to the measurements of Kofinas' office on Thursday DS was 4lb 10oz and DD was 3 lb 15oz (she would have been 4lbs if she hadn't decided to pee all over the crib the minute she came out of me Chat Icon ) How long did your little ones need to be in the NICU??
DD is having apnea episodes which I worry about but shes off the oxygen and still in an isolette cause shes so small still. DS is off everything and in a crib now, just started nipple feed once a day yesterday. I worry about them sooo much!!
