Starting your lawn from scratch

I was wondering if anyone knew how much a landscaper would charge to start my lawn over. We have so many different kinds of grass and weeds it is horrible. Our property is 40 x 100, not very big.
Thanks!

We are in NJ...so it might be a little different, but this is what we are doing. We are having sod put down...our property is 50x100. They are going to turn over the soil in the front and back (and remove whatever little grass we have) and baiscally start over. We are paying $3150.

Wow!! That is alot. We just want to basically tear up the yard and put down new seed and continue each year. My dh would LOVE sod but we don't have the money right now.
Thanks so much and good luck!

LOL...we don't really have the money either...I wanted to do seed also...but DH does not want to look at dirt the whole summer in case the seed doesn't work out, and then we still have nothing. He originally wanted synthetic grass...which is like fake grass that you don't mow, water, etc....and that came with a 12K price tag...so he "settled" for this. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

That sounds cool if you have the money. Grass you don't have to take care of would be great!!

Our property is 40x135 and we are paying $1000 for a new lawn, weekly maintence, spring/fall clean-ups, fertilizer, and spraying and pruning of our shrubs.
