Re: Statistical Data on Pregnancy Test Timing

that was really good, thank you.

this was our first month trying, and we went all out - OPKs and testing with FRER starting POD 8!! i have gotten all BFNs so far, and i agree with FF, if you start testing early this process gets all-consuming and the stress with BFNs is overwhelming! next month (assuming i'm not pregnant, but who knows), i think i'm going to do things a little more "au natural" - just BD every other day during my fertile period and wait for AF to hopefully not come. THEN test. i think this is the only way i'm going to be able to preserve my sanity!

Re: Statistical Data on Pregnancy Test Timing

It's getting a negative when it's really a positive...so in this case, it is getting a BFN when you are really pregnant.

There are no dumb questions!

A False Negative is when you the test is negative but you are really pregnant. The tests have to do with the amount of chemical in your body so if you test too soon the level might be too low for a positive result - therefore the test is negative but you are really pregnant - and if you wait a few more days for those levels to increase you will eventually get a positive result.

Hence the false negative -as opposed to just getting a negative becuase you are simply not pregnant
